Shield Foundation (India)

Shield Foundation (India) Shield Foundation is creating an ecosystem to provide holistic relief to the elderly Mrs.

Since its inception in 2010, Shield Foundation has been the embodiment of dedication and compassion, thanks to our visionary founder, Mrs. Swati Ingole, a seasoned social worker with a wealth of experience from her work with international non-profits. Ingole's passion for serving the elderly, supported by our co-founders, has been the driving force behind our journey. Over the past 14 years, Shiel

d has evolved into a multi-centric organization, boasting a team of over 30 staff members and numerous volunteers. Our growth is a testament to years of unwavering dedication and resilience. In 2023, our commitment to excellence was recognized when we were honored as one of the "TOP 20 MOST TRUSTED NGO’S OF THE YEAR," an accolade bestowed upon us by the esteemed editorial team of Brand Honchos Media. This prestigious recognition reaffirms our position as a beacon of trust and reliability in the realm of social service. Shield Foundation's impact extends far beyond accolades and recognition. At the heart of our mission lies a genuine desire to provide holistic care to the elderly population of Dharavi and beyond. Through innovative approaches and strategic partnerships, we not only address the immediate needs of seniors but also empower women from underprivileged backgrounds, creating a ripple effect of positive change in the community. As Confucius once said "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." We are committed to upskilling youth and women with lower education status through various training programs such as Nursing Assistant Course, ITES BPO, Tailoring, and Jewelry making. These courses not only equip participants with practical skills for employment but also include soft skills training and placement assistance. By making individuals financially independent, we not only transform their lives but also cultivate a stronger, more resilient society. Through our holistic approach to empowerment, we aim to create a community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully.

From young girls chasing their dreams to mothers building secure futures for their families, every woman’s journey deserves recognition, respect, and encouragement.

Let us continue to create a world where every woman feels valued, confident, and empowered to thrive.

At just 29 years old, Komal Mayur Thorat faced one of life’s most difficult challenges—the loss of her husband — while being a mother to two young children aged 2 and 4. In the midst of grief and uncertainty, Komal chose resilience over despair and took a courageous step toward rebuilding her life.

Through Shield Foundation’s General Duty Assistant (GDA) course, Komal gained essential healthcare skills that opened doors to employment and self-reliance. Her dedication and hard work paid off when she secured a position at a prestigious hospital where she is currently working with confidence and pride.

Today, Komal stands as an inspiring example of strength and determination. She is not only supporting her family independently but also creating a secure and hopeful future for her children. Her journey highlights the transformative power of skill-based education and the impact it can have on lives.

✨ Komal’s story reminds us that with the right support and opportunities, every challenge can become a stepping stone toward a brighter tomorrow.
