Living Hanuman

Living Hanuman Sri Hanuman is Prana, or the Life-force that flows through each living being as Breath, as the common thread of life. This is the key to harmony.

'Living Hanuman' is a book written by Pawan Kumar Mishra. It was published and launched in 2019. It is a contemporary commentary on Sri Hanuman Chalisa, the most popular sacred hymn sung by millions of believers across the world. A verse by verse commentary is followed by several questions that allows the seeker to journey within. There are about 300 questions in all which a seeker is invited to

ask himself, the answers of which he/she alone knows! Such an in-journey enables a deep understanding of one's own self. It also can enable one to understand one's path and purpose of life, making one's journey through the Earth, more meaningful. " Live like the sky, give like the Earth" is the central call to the seeker-readers. People are aware of divinity of Sri Hanuman and also know of this hymn with varying degree of familiarity. The hymn is a profound and powerful which holds a rich treasure of wisdom pearls. Though these gems of wisdom are drawn from the Vedas, they are universal in nature, in total resonance with other wisdom/ spiritual/ religious traditions of the world. An understanding of this hymn offers an insight into the sameness amongst islands of religious or other beliefs that currently divide our world. The endeavor is to draw the whole of humanity into a loving embrace through the common thread that binds us all. Sri Hanuman is shown as a monkey. Monkeys do not have any religion. Hence, Sri Hanuman can be taken to be a common logo or symbol for all the varying traditions of the world. Sri Hanuman is a metaphor for breath, which is common to each and every living being, and hence a common thread that runs through each and every bead of a being in this rosary of life! Sri Hanuman is a metaphor for compassion and surrender, for a life removed from one's ego-sphere to one dedicated in the service of the universal eco-sphere. Let us each become aware of the sacredness of our breaths as streams of compassion and joy. Let us join in an endeavor to infuse each and every one with this breath of compassion and service, creating a shift in the spectrum towards a life of Compassion, Contentment, Gratitude, Growth and Integrity.

*Haar* (рд╣рд╛рд░) : The Garland of Surrender

*Haar (рд╣рд╛рд░)* is a commonly used word in Hindi meaning both *defeat* and *garland* . It is interesting how two seemingly disconnected things are expressed by the same word.

The word *Haar* as in defeat or failure crossed my mind this morning while reviewing aspects of my own life. As I stayed in this flow for a while, the word *Haar* meaning a garland or a bewelled necklace floated into my mind.

Failures or defeats lead to total surrender. Like a warrior who loses in a battle, surrenders. The victor takes over.

So in life, especially for those on the Path, when our best efforts or our strengths fall short, we turn to God, in deep surrender. We lay the whole of ourselves at His/Her feet, place our heads in His / Her lap. This surrender ( *Haar* ) becomes our loving offering as a garland ( *Haar* ). No other garland or offering is needed. God takes over from this point on, the point of our total surrender and belonging to God.

Such a garland , in Hindi, is known as *haar ki haar*тЭдя╕ПЁЯЩПЁЯП╝ЁЯШБ

__________

In Hindu weddings, the bride and the groom place a garland *(haar)* around each others' neck. This is the garland of total and loving surrender *(haar)* to one another, belonging to one another from this point on.

Mantra Music-Art тАУ 24 hours of Triunal Offering
Maha Shiva-ratri, March 08-09, 2024 at Rishikesh, India

An impulse to make a holistic offering to Shiva took a form of a flower which bloomed for the FIRST TIME EVER IN HISTORY. Three streams of offerings became one, tribunal, in a unique confluence of music, art and mantra, witnessed by a few who chose to be there. This is what the Triunal Offering was тАУ

On Shiva-ratri, March 08-09, 2024, at about 5.00 am we began our 24-hour continuous offering to Shiva, concluding the next morning at about 8.00 am.

Mantra: We offered the chanting of Rudra-ashta-adhyaayi, the eight chapters of Yajur Veda known as the Rudri. 11 times of Rudri performed by 11 pundits (total 121 chants), making this a Maha-rudra offering.

Music: At the start of each of the eight Prahar which comprises 24hours, the unique divinity of the Time-person was invoked through a composition in the raga corresponding to the Prahar by Ashish Kukreti ji, a young sage-musician. For the first time ever, any musician has ever done this

Art: Right with the first note of Naada, or music, Pawan Tiwari ji made the first stroke of his magic brush on his canvas. As the Triunal Offering progressed, over the next 24 hours, he continued to paint his canvas in an unbroken flow. Thus emerged Nandi carrying Shiva in the form of crystal lingam of light, at Arunachala, the fabled red-mountain range in the Himalayas.

Duiring the 24 hour Trinual Offering, all the people who had gathered there, sat through, as a conscious witness. The Mantra represented the waking state, the painting represented the dreaming state and the music represented the deep sleep state, while the devotees represented the Fourth or Turiya, which is the Conscious Self, the eternal witness to the three states mentioned here. The Mandukya Upanishad became a living experience.
