We are proud to announce the entry of Michael Joyce into the Lonard family, a global tennis icon and now our new ambassador. Lonard and tennis have much in common: discipline, precision, a passion for tradition, and the drive to push boundaries. Joyce perfectly embodies these values and our watchmaking vision: mechanical, artisanal, uncompromising.

Michael Joyce is a prominent figure on the world tennis scene: born in Santa Monica on February 1, 1973, he first distinguished himself in the junior circuit, reaching the Roland Garros quarterfinals in 1991 and the Wimbledon Juniors final in the same year. That success earned him the title of United States Junior National Champion in Kalamazoo in 1991 and a wild card to the main draw of the US Open. His professional career spanned from 1991 to 2004, with participation in numerous ATP tournaments and a significant rise in the rankings: in the Wimbledon 1995 quarterfinals, after defeating Marc Rosset, he jumped from 140 to 79 in the world ranking. After retiring from the tour, Joyce also shone as a coach of high-caliber athletes, including the Russian champion Maria Sharapova, helping to shape new generations of talent. His story has been the subject of academic and literary analysis on professional tennis ability, as a paradigm of themes such as choice, freedom, limits, joy, and the completeness of the human being.

With Michael Joyce, we begin a new page in our history: an ambassador who embodies precision, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence. Together, we will continue to tell stories of meaningful moments, celebrating Italian watchmaking tradition through the elegance of high-quality mechanical instruments.
