🎨 NEAPOLITAN CERAMICS
Neapolitan ceramics have a long and vibrant tradition, rooted in centuries of craftsmanship, decorative art and Mediterranean culture. Today, a new generation of Neapolitan ceramic artists is reinterpreting this heritage through contemporary forms, colours and experimental techniques. Their work combines traditional knowledge with modern design, creating a dialogue between the past and the present.
🙌 Working with clay is a powerful educational experience: it trains patience, concentration and manual skills, while inviting participants to learn by doing, to accept mistakes as part of the creative process and to connect with the cultural heritage of a place through their own hands. For teachers and educators, ceramics offers a hands-on, multisensory approach to learning that fosters creativity and resilience, skills that can be easily transferred to the classroom to engage learners of all ages.
👩‍🎨 Terry Di Renzo is a Neapolitan artist and maker who works with ceramics and resin in her Casa Cometa studio (https://www.instagram.com/casa_cometa_napoli/) in the heart of the Quartieri Spagnoli. Her creations reinterpret Naples' religious icons, ex-votos and spiritual imagery through a colourful contemporary language where the sacred and the profane meet. 🕯️❤️‍🔥
