How can we give voice to human suffering and to all those who have experienced slavery, uprooting and migration across the centuries? This is the question at the heart of CRIES: scheduled for Tuesday 9 (9:30 pm) and Wednesday 10 June (9:30 pm) at the Teatro Verde on the Isola di San Giorgio, Christos Stergioglou and Alex Drakos Ktistakis' music-theatre draws on ancient and modern poetry and theatre to invite audiences "not merely to watch, but to experience and attune to a pulse that traverses the centuries, a pulse that is profoundly human, where ritual meets experimentation, where history is not re-enacted but reactivated, and where ancient forms do not find a conclusion, but are set free".

Three schools, three pathways, one shared space of encounter: from the Scuola Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Nazionale to the Civica Scuola di Teatro Paolo Grassi in Milan, and on to the Accademia Teatrale Carlo Goldoni of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale, the 54th International Theatre Festival opens its doors to the "performers of tomorrow" with THE DRAMA SCHOOLS PROJECT.

Following the experience of WWW.WORDWORLDWAR.BOMB at the , the Festival brings together three leading Italian drama schools, fostering dialogue between different practices, artistic visions, and pedagogical approaches. With QUINDICI RAGAZZƏ CON QUALCHE ESPERIENZA, SAINT JOAN OF THE STOCKYARDS and COMERADOVERA, becomes a workshop and a crossroads where training meets stage performance: a space of exchange where students "come not only to present their work but to see the work of others; to get to know their contemporaries; to exchange ideas; and to discuss and discover new theatrical languages".

"The erosion of tradition is like cutting off the umbilical cord that anchors a fisherman, a rupture that threatens to detach us from the depths of our being. [...] Through creation, we seek to discover our shared roots, our common genealogy. So, the creation of art is a way of initiating a dialogue, reflection, and expanding the universe, a means to listen deeply to each other." Lemi Ponifasio

"TACET puts the performer to the test. It is an ongoing experiment that takes place before the audience’s very eyes, because it demands absolute precision from the performer [...] meanwhile, we [...] cannot help but be machines of the unpredictable." Silvia Costa

"TACET does not aim to define the space that opens up to the spectator, only to open it up. [...] We're attempting to open up a space for unpredictability within each spectator. The doorway to this is our effacement, through silence. [...] This performance is intended for their wordless solitude." Jacopo Giacomoni

On the night of 2 June, the new heart of the Historical Archive – International Centre for Research on Contemporary Arts at the Arsenale was brought to life with YET DARKNESS HELD NO SERAPHIM, the concert by the Artistic Director of , Caterina Barbieri.

Through the hypnotic patterns of modular synthesis and expanded electroacoustic forms, the audience was drawn into a space where memory, time, and perception were in constant flux – continuously reshaped and redefined in real time. Enveloped by the light design of Marcel Weber and visuals by Ruben Spini, the performance unfolded as a sensorial voyage through shifting states of trance and heightened consciousness, dissolving the boundaries between listening and vision, presence and recollection.
