This watch is in its element wherever it goes.

The SeaQ was specifically designed to withstand the challenges of the underwater world and to offer maximum safety whilst diving. Naturally, it also feels right at home on land, where it proves to be as reliable as it is stylish.

This handcrafted model is inspired by the first Glashütte diving watch, the Spezimatic Type RP TS 200, and is enhanced by a modern, reed-green dial. Thus, the SeaQ not only bridges the gap between water and land, but also between the past and the present, in a mechanical timepiece that is as beautiful as it is functional.

Opposites attract.

The bi-colour SeaQ Panorama Date demonstrates just how harmoniously stark contrasts can complement one another.

Take, for example, the combination of cool stainless steel and warm red gold, or the fusion of sportiness and elegance. The same applies to the interplay between robust functionality and fine details, as well as the tension between making a style statement and understated elegance.

All these apparent contradictions have been incorporated into the design of the SeaQ Panorama Date.

The result? A sophisticated, mechanical diver’s watch with a beautifully balanced design that is sure to turn heads.

A superlative automatic movement.

At the heart of the 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻 ‘𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗺’ beats our in-house Calibre 36. With a running time of 100 hours, an anti-magnetic and temperature-resistant silicon balance spring as well as a balance stop mechanism, it combines precision with durability.

Its intricate finishes can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back: the accurate stripe finish on the Glashütte three-quarter plate, the hand-engraved balance c**k and the delicate sunburst finish on the manual winding chain.

This clearly reveals the two faces of this timepiece: the exquisite porcelain painting on one side and the artfully finished movement on the other.

Natural beauty crafted by human hands.

As an exclusive Atelierauftrag, every 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻 ‘𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗺’ is assembled entirely by a single watchmaker.

Only the delicate porcelain dial is not produced here in Glashütte, but in the workshops of Meissen.

A dedicated colour laboratory, with its closely guarded formulas, forms the basis for the delicate floral motif, which stands out vividly against the light background. Experienced porcelain painters apply the soft colours with fine brushes. Layer by layer, each is fired in the kiln at 900°C to achieve the desired depth of colour.

A flat red gold case with a diameter of 40 mm frames the hand-painted dial, with the solid gold hour and minute hands taking a back seat to let the dial take centre stage.

25 years of watchmaking education at Glashütte Original.

The future of watchmaking begins with the next generation. And recently, the workshop where our young apprentices usually learn, practise and create their first pieces became a place for visitors to experience the craft first hand.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking, the workshop doors opened to numerous interested visitors.

At various stations, they had the opportunity to try their hand at traditional techniques – from blueing screws to silver-plating by friction and filing a wheel. Our apprentices and watchmakers offered insights into their work and the many intricate steps that go into the making of fine mechanical timepieces.

The day brought together people with a shared fascination for watchmaking – a craft shaped by skill, dedication, and a keen eye for detail.

Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who made this day possible, especially our apprentices, whose knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment the workshop bring to life.

We would also like to thank AOK PLUS Sachsen/Thüringen and the Stadt Glashütte for their support.

Delicate blossoms that never fade.

Motifs inspired by nature have a long tradition in fine ceramics. At MEISSEN, botanical designs were already being painted onto the precious creations as far back as the 18th century. The cherry blossom has always been a popular motif due to its grace.

Today, together with Meissen, we are bringing it to life on the dial of a mechanical watch that bears witness to the experience and craftsmanship of our two partner manufactories: the new 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻 ‘𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗺’.

Glashütte watchmaking artistry meets Meissen porcelain painting

When the winter cherry blossoms unfold this autumn, a magnificent natural spectacle unfolds for a brief moment: a splendour of pink and white meets the colourful autumn foliage.

The porcelain manufactory Meissen and Glashütte Original have now immortalised the cherry blossom in a watch that will stand the test of time. Hand-painted blossoms on white porcelain adorn the dial of the new 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻 ‘𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗺’, which combines the craftsmanship of two Saxon brands rich in tradition.

100 years ago, a new era dawned in Glashütte.

The Uhren Rohwerkefabrik Glashütte AG (UROFA) became the first enterprise to switch from pocket watches to manufacturing wristwatches.

As hardly any watchmakers in Germany were familiar with small wristwatch calibres at the time, the company started training its own young talents early on. The company’s apprentice hostel became a second home for many of its residents. Together, they formed a close-knit community united by far more than their shared training goal.

Commonly known as “UROFA-Stifte”, the young trainees spent not only their time in class together, but also most of their leisure time: at music evenings and theatre performances, playing handball and football, or on joint cycling trips and city breaks.

To this day, Glashütte Original remains committed to the aim of being not just an employer but a place where our watchmakers can thrive – both at our manufactory and at our very own Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking.

This year, this institution situated in the heart of Glashütte is celebrating its 25th anniversary, continuing the long-standing tradition of vocational training and communal spirit.

25 years of the Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking.

When Glashütte Original opened its in-house watchmaking school in 2001, the manufactory thereby reaffirmed its commitment to its craft.

For a quarter of a century now, this school has been training talented young people in the fields of watchmaking, toolmaking and machining, and supporting them on their journey into the profession.

We are proud of every single one of them. These numerous dedicated young people not only embody the future of watchmaking, but have also become part of our international family from day one.

A new generation of Glashütte Originals.

At our watchmaking school, we pass on the collective knowledge gained over more than 180 years to our apprentices who come from all over Germany.

The systematic transfer of skills and experience is a common thread that has run through the history of Glashütte watchmaking from the very beginning. When the first apprentices began their watchmaking training in 1878, they laid the foundations for the future success of their craft.

Today’s Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking, named after one of Germany’s most renowned watchmakers, is situated right in the heart of the town.

Every morning, apprentices and teachers gather here in a school that is more than just a training centre. The bright, modern rooms in the historic building – a symbol of the connection between the past and the future – are a vibrant place where generations meet and the starting point for many creative ideas, technical masterpieces and lifelong friendships.
