At this year's Watches & Wonders Geneva, we had the opportunity to see the prototype of the first model from Nouvelle Cronometrie, the brand headed by Mr. Noritaka Sakurai: the MONTRE ORDINAIRE.
It embodies a delicate craftsmanship reminiscent of “Abraham-Louis Breguet”from the early 19th century.

While many watch brands, large and small, are releasing eccentric designs these days, Sakurai's ideal design philosophy, combined with cutting-edge modern technology and the finest hand-finishing, is clearly a testament to his confidence in bringing it to life—a design that was impossible to achieve in its time.

今回のWatches & Wonders Genevaでは、櫻井教尊さんが代表を務めるブランド、Nouvelle Cronometrie“ヌーベル・クロノメトリー”の初作
MONTRE ORDINAIRE“モントル・オーディネール”のプロトタイプを拝見させて頂く事が出来ました。
19世紀初頭のアブラアム＝ルイ・ブレゲを彷彿とさせる繊細さが凝縮されています。
昨今の大小様々な時計ブランドからは、奇を衒ったデザインがリリースされている中、当時では出来えなかったムーブメント制作技術に櫻井さんが理想とする設計思想を、現代の最新鋭の技術と手仕上げの粋を結集させ具現化させた自信の表れなのが伝わって来ます。

終わればまたヌーシャテルに戻ります。

The 2025 model featured a white gold dial with only the Roman numerals, minute markers, and a fraction of a millimeter of the outer edge remaining. The rest of the dial was then polished, followed by a sunray finish. Garnet-colored glaze was applied and fired 6-7 times to complete the watch, which was then housed in a rose gold case. The 2026 model, however, is housed in a white gold case, resulting in a slightly more subdued appearance.

ホワイトゴールド製の文字板を、ローマンインデックスとミニッツインデックス、そしてコンマ数ミリの外周だけを残し、それ以外を削り落とし、削り落とした面をポリッシュ仕上げを施し、その後サンレイ仕上げを行い、ガーネットカラーの釉薬を6〜7回塗布と焼成を繰り返して仕上げ、ローズゴールドケースに収めた2025年モデルを、2026年度は、ホワイトゴールドケースに収める事で、少し落ち着いた趣きに仕上げられたモデルです。

Yosuke-San is unveiling his 2026 novelty today: a collection crafted in a material that has never before been used in his Le Locle workshop: yellow gold.

Yosuke-San is also revealing a dial that represents the technical continuation of the previous version, with a dial cut from solid gold using an extremely fine milling cutter, this time bringing stylized Arabic numerals to light.

The dial remains in grand feu enamel, and Yosuke-San’s artistry is, as always, applied by his hand alone on the movement side.

関口陽介氏は本日、2026年の新作コレクションを発表しました。
彼のル・ロックルのアトリエでは、これまで制作されたことのない素材、イエローゴールドを用いたコレクションです。

関口陽介氏はまた、前作の技術的進化を体現する文字盤も発表しました。
極めて精密なフライス盤で無垢のゴールドから削り出された文字盤には、スタイリッシュなアラビア数字が配されています。

文字盤はグラン・フー・シャンルベ エナメル仕上げで、ムーブメント側には陽介氏の卓越した職人技が、これまで同様すべて手作業で施されています。

When I visited La Chaux-de-Fonds on January 19, 2026, I stopped by the Musée International d’Horlogerie (MIH) to pick up an item.
