Summer in Japan comes with Matsuri festivals "祭" and fireworks "花火大会" that lighten up the night sky.

Wooden jewelry fits almost any look, and it fits surprisingly well with traditional Japanese clothing like Yukata "浴衣". I pair the Yukata with my wooden jewelry to create a unique and bold look. This combines Japanese summer tradition with style.

This is one of my favorite ways to carry the spirit of Japanese summer.

今年も夏祭りや花火大会でにぎわう季節になりました。

ウッドジュエリーはどんなスタイルにも合わせやすいのが特長の1つですが、浴衣や着物といった和服との相性も抜群なんです。暗めのトーンの浴衣と髑髏のウッドジュエリーが妖怪などをイメージさせる怪しい雰囲気もあって個人的にはお気に入り。

【素敵な出会いに感謝】

さん主催のフリマイベントに出店させてもらいました。
当日はリングやネックレスなどウッドジュエリーを販売させて頂きました。ご購入頂いた方々は勿論のこと、ご興味を持って頂いた方や｢カッコイイね！｣というようなポジティブなお声も掛けて頂きました。作り手としてはこういう体験はやっぱり嬉しいですね。
革ジャンを着て、ウッドジュエリーを身に着けて、鏡の前でニヤリ、、、そんな事してもらえたら最高です。

クリエイター側の視点も考えられたイベントでとても素晴らしい一日でした。yujiさん、ありがとう。

さて、次に向けていろいろ作らないとな〜

[Thankful for Great Encounters]

I got to join a flea market event as a vendor hosted by a Japanese YouTuber .

That day, I was selling wooden jewelry like rings and necklaces. I’m really thankful not just to the people who bought something, but also to everyone who showed interest or gave me positive feedback like “That’s so cool!” As an Artist, moments like these mean a lot.

I picture someone rocking a leather jacket, wearing my wooden jewelry, and giving a confident smile in the mirror... that kind of moment would be the best feeling.
The event was well put together, keeping creators in mind, and it turned out to be a fantastic day.
Thanks a lot!
Now, time to get back to making new stuff for what’s coming next!

【Japanese Noragi & Sakura】

The first scenery that the 'Noragi' jacket, which awoke from a 100-year sleep, showed me was beautiful Sakura. The solid materials and craftsmanship convey the attitude toward craftsmanship in Japan in the past. As a Japanese, through this up-cycling jacket, I feel like I was taught about the beauty and wonder of Japan once again...

100年の眠りから目覚めた野良着が最初に見せてくれた景色は綺麗な桜でした。
しっかりとした素材や作りからは、当時の日本のものづくりに対する姿勢が伝わってきます。リメイクとして蘇った野良着ジャケットを通して、日本の美しさや素晴らしさをまた少し教えてもらった気がします。

Spring upcycling project using Japanese traditional Noragi jacket (野良着)and Japanese indigo (藍染) fabric. Both are at least half a century old, possibly up to 100+ years. I attached jeans-jacket-style large pockets from the indigo fabric making the standout pattern a bold eyecatcher. The pockets are reinforced with kimono fabric inspired by the Japanese "Uramasari"( 裏勝り) concept.
春をイメージして、古布を使用し野良着をリメイクしてみました。どちらも少なくとも50から100年以上前のものですが、しっかりしてます。ビンテージ系のGジャンにあるような大きめのポケットを、花柄の藍染の古布で作ることでアクセントとなってます。また、｢裏勝り｣からアイディアをもらい、和柄入りの着物生地でポケットの裏地を作り、古布の補強と共に見えないオシャレも楽しめます。

A simple yet delicate ring made of olive wood. The evergreen olive tree is a symbol for peace and committed, lasting love. So I used this wood for a custom-order from my client as a very special gift for his wife. The ring design is inspired by their marriage ring, which they crafted themselves. As a jewelry artist, it is truly an honor to be trusted to make such a meaningful piece for them both and hope this ring will become a symbol for their love.

｢妻の為にとっておきのプレゼントをしたい｣との事で、今回リングをオーダー頂き、オリーブの木で製作しました。

オリーブは一年を通して緑が美しく育つことから、｢平和で献身的、そして永続的な愛｣という意味があるそうです。リングのデザインは、オーダーされた方が結婚する際に、ご自身達で手作りで作られた結婚指輪がベースになっています。
シンプルさの中にどこか繊細さも感じられるような仕上がりとなってます。

今回のようなオーダーを頂けた事は、ジュエリーを製作する作り手として、大変光栄なことであり、このリングが2人にとって愛のシンボルなってくれるよう願っています。

First time wearing the newest addition in my kimono up-cycling series. It was a pleasure to share this project with my friends and cool people at the leather jacket event #革ジャンフリークス . A colorful dress shirt made completely by hand from unique kimono fabric. As always, the shirt goes well with the handmade wooden jewelery and gives a retro-chic vibe.

着物生地で製作したドレスシャツを着下ろし。機械織りでないからこそできる独特な味わいの生地とカラフルな柄がいい感じにレトロ感を出してくれてます。もちろんウッドジュエリーとの相性も抜群です。
昨日参加してきた@yuji_strutaround のイベントでも早速お披露目させてもらいました。さんやさんを始め沢山の方々に嬉しい感想を頂き大変光栄でした。非常に楽しいイベントありがとうございました!!

A sip of personal moment: I grew up riding motorcycle in my childhood. Recently I visited a racing circuit which I used to go to almost every weekend 25 years ago. ⁡⁡

⁡After many years, I returned and enjoyed riding and wearing one of my earlier project "Biker leather denim pants".⁡ A boy who dreamed to become a professional rider one day had no idea who he will become and how the world will change in 25 years...⁡ ⁡⁡

⁡Though it is not a big course, every corner reminded me of the memories of when I tried to go as fast as I could and the joy of riding. What makes it even more special is that my selfmade biker pants were well functional for the entire time riding.⁡⁡

先日、幼少期に毎週のように通っていたサーキットに25年ぶりに走ってきました。⁡⁡

⁡当時レーサーを夢見ていた少年は、その後の人生がどうなるかなんて想像もつかなかったはず…小さいサーキットでもコーナーを攻める度に当時の記憶が蘇り、バイクに乗ることの楽しさを改めて思い出させてくれました。⁡

⁡そして今回は、レザークラフトを始めた初期の頃に製作した、バイカーデニムパンツを着てライディングに挑戦。バイカーパンツとして機能し本来の目的を果すことが出来たことにも作り手としての自信に繋がる体験でした。

レザーを使用した新たな試みとして、完全オリジナルのレザーシャツを製作しました。

70年代のスタイルをイメージしており、ウッドジュエリーとの相性も抜群です。

レザーも木材と同様、自然素材の為、個々の素材にはシボや色味といった個性があり、完成すると唯一無二のものが出来上がります。今回は、独特のシボが特長のニュージーランド産ラムレザーを使用し、裏地は、絹製の着物を分解して裁断し裏地として利用しました。

欧米がルーツの革ジャンですが、made in Japanのカッコ良さも追求していきたいので今後も試行錯誤していく予定です。

A new handmade creation using leather: black leather shirt combined with up-cycled silken kimono fabric. Completely made from scratch, this 70's inspired shirt goes well with the handcrafted wood jewelry. Like wood, leather is a natural material that leads to one-of-a-kind creations with different colors and grain structure. In this leather shirt I highlighted the beautiful variety of leather grain in New Zealand lamb leathers. While leather jackets first became Fashion items in the west, I want to continue to combine modern fashion with japanese traditions such as kimono fabric to create truly unique 'made in Japan' items.
