Out of all the customized pieces I’ve made in my life, this one resonates with me the most. Because every other piece I’ve created was made by me, for the people I love. This one is different. This one was created by my child, for me.
There’s something incredibly emotional about seeing our family through Nadi’s eyes.
He drew us the way he sees us. Not perfectly, not realistically, but simply, the way we exist in his little world. 4 people, together, inside our home. His safe place. His whole world.
And I keep looking at this drawing and wondering… What does he see when he looks at us?
I think he sees love. He sees the people who are always there; who hold his hand, make him laugh, comfort him, teach him, and make him feel safe.
And then I had another thought: I wish he could see himself through our eyes.
I wish he could see how much space he takes up in our hearts. How his laugh is one of our favorite sounds. How the smallest things he does become memories we know we’ll carry forever.
So I turned his little drawing into a necklace.
Not because it’s perfect. But because it’s ours. ❤️
A little piece of his world that I can carry with me, always.
