🇪🇹 SMALL & MIGHTY — ETHIOPIAN PARAIBA
Ethiopian Paraiba has been one of the most talked-about gemstones of the past few months. But finding truly fine-quality, flawless and unheated stones is extremely rare.
ARE THEY WORTH THE HYPE?
The finest unheated, flawless Ethiopian Paraibas can show an extraordinary character. Some display noticeable shifts in color under different lighting, giving the stone an almost constantly changing personality.
It’s the kind of gem you keep turning and looking at — and somehow, it keeps pulling you back in.
Very few gemstones have that effect.
HOW DOES ETHIOPIA COMPARE?
From what we have seen in the market so far:
🇧🇷 Brazil — still the benchmark.
🇪🇹 Ethiopia — exceptional color and character, with some remarkable stones emerging.
🇲🇿 Mozambique — beautiful Paraiba material with the advantage of much larger sizes.
Of course, origin alone never makes a stone exceptional. Color, saturation, clarity, treatment, size and individual character all matter.
WORTH THE PRICE?
There are claims that Ethiopian Paraiba is far superior to Brazilian material. We believe it is still too early to make such a conclusion, and much of the current pricing remains speculative.
What we can say is that the finest Ethiopian stones we have seen can have incredibly rich color — often richer than comparable Mozambique material.
The limitation? Size.
Fine Ethiopian stones are generally very small, making a clean, unheated stone above 1 carat particularly special.

Small & Mighty. 🇪🇹💎
Brazil. Ethiopia. Mozambique.
Three origins. Three different characters. And perhaps a new chapter in the Paraiba story.
