What is a Padparadscha Sapphire? 🌸🧡
Padparadscha is one of the most distinctive and sought-after varieties of sapphire, admired for its delicate blend of **pink and orange hues**. Often compared to the colors of a tropical sunset or lotus blossom.
The name **Padparadscha** originates from the Sinhalese word *padmaraga*, traditionally associated with the color of the lotus flower. Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 is historically one of the most important sources of these remarkable sapphires and is especially renowned for producing beautiful examples of this unique color.
Like other sapphires, Padparadscha belongs to the **corundum mineral family** and has a hardness of **9 on the Mohs scale**, making it suitable for fine jewellery, including engagement rings, statement rings, pendants and heirloom pieces.
