🎀 Sri Lanka is home to a vast variety of tropical fruits, many of which are known by distinct names in Sinhala. Below is a list of common fruits with their English and Sinhala names.

Watermelon - පැණි කොමඩු🍉

⏩Exotic & Seasonal Local Favorites
These fruits are unique to the region and highly seasonal, often seen at roadside stalls during their peak.
Jackfruit: (කොස්) when raw for curries - Waraka (වරාකා) or Wela (වැළ) when ripe and sweet.
Mangosteen: (මැංගුස්) — Known as the "Queen of Fruits".
Rambutan: (රඹුටන්) — A hairy red fruit famous in the Malwana area.
Soursop: (ආනෝදා) — Often used for creamy, healthy fruit juices.
Ceylon Olive: (වෙරළු) — Frequently eaten with a chili-salt mixture or pickled.
Water Apple: (ජම්බු) — Also called rose apple or wax apple.
Starfruit: (කාමරංගා) — Named for its distinct star shape when sliced.
Avocado: (අලි පේර) — Popularly served as a dessert with jaggery or honey.
