“Fei Cui” is a term often misunderstood as simply “jadeite”. But it’s actually an umbrella term of three related minerals: jadeite, omphacite, and kosmochlor. When we talk about “jadeite” we often forget, it’s not just one mineral but a whole composition of different minerals making up Fei Cui.
So the global term - “jadeite” is not so right term.
In the Western world, jadeite is still under the radar.
While rubies, sapphires, and emeralds are well-established in Western design, jadeite remains distant, partly due to limited understanding, valuation differences, and cultural disconnect.
But awareness is growing, and with it comes opportunity. For jadeite to thrive in the West, consumer confidence and education are key.
When designers, retailers, and valuers understand jadeite’s beauty and standards, we can start giving it the recognition it deserves.
