✨ From Mellieħa to Adenau, Germany! 🇲🇹🇩🇪

A little piece of home, now across borders. 🤍❤️

A particularly meaningful commission celebrating 30 years of twinning between Mellieħa, my hometown, and Adenau, Germany.

This A4 artwork captures the beautiful façade of the historic Sanctuary Gate in Mellieħa, meticulously hand-embossed in gold-coloured metal foil and presented in a custom frame.

The process involved hours of photographing and studying the original architecture, translating its intricate details into a pencil sketch, and carefully embossing each line by hand to create a raised relief in metal.

Every curve, every architectural feature and every delicate detail of the wrought-iron gate was a labour of patience, precision and love for our local heritage.

From photograph to sketch, from metal to a lasting piece of Mellieħa's story. ✨

Truly honoured that my work was chosen to commemorate this special milestone, and grateful to the Mellieħa Local Council for supporting local craftsmanship.

For this post, I’m sharing the complete collection together. Each piece brings fragments of vintage timepieces into a new story, where mechanical time meets the celestial rhythms through which we once understood and measured time.

I am deeply grateful to the Malta Crafts Foundation for giving me the opportunity and space to present this collection through designMT, and for their continued support of Maltese craftsmanship. 🤍

Yesterday morning, TVAM broadcast live from the beautiful Madonna tal-Pilar Chapel, where Celestial Mechanisms is currently being exhibited.

As I couldn’t be there, I was truly touched to hear Mr Elton Micallef, CEO of the Malta Crafts Foundation, speak on my behalf about my work.

Thank you, Elton, for your kind words and, above all, for the genuine care and support you show Malta’s artisans and their work. 🤍

And thank you to the TVAM crew for the early start and for giving Maltese artists and artisans this wonderful visibility.

Ending September feeling truly humbled and grateful 🙏✨

Receiving such kind words from the Mayor of Mellieħa, my hometown, means more than I can say. I’m forever grateful for the continued support and encouragement from the Mayor and the entire team at Mellieħa Local Council 🤍

This particular piece was a labour of love. From the first sketch to the final embossing, detailing and framing, it took more than 12 hours of meticulous work, with so much attention given to capturing the character and intricate details of one of Mellieħa’s most recognisable landmarks.

It makes it even more special knowing that something created by my hands, a little piece of home, is now travelling all the way to Adenau, Germany, to commemorate 30 years of friendship and twinning between Mellieħa and Adenau. 🇲🇹🇩🇪

✨ A little piece of Atelier Nineteen is heading to designMT 2026.

I’m very happy, and incredibly grateful, to share that Celestial Mechanisms has been selected to form part of this year’s designMT.

This collection brings together vintage watch mechanisms, celestial symbolism and wearable art, exploring that curious meeting point between mechanical time and cosmic time. 🌙⚙️✨

It feels very special to see these pieces leave my workbench and enter such a beautiful exhibition setting.
