✨Nowruz meaning “New Day” an ancient Persian tradition celebrated for over 3,000 years on March 20th, marks the arrival of spring, renewal, and joy—a time for fresh beginnings!
🌍 It is celebrated in Iran and at least 14 other countries.
One of the most important parts of Nowruz is
the “Haft-Sin“ Table, decorated with 7 symbolic items, all starting with the Persian letter S !
🔹 Sir (Garlic) – Protection & medicine 🧄
🔹 Somagh (Sumac)-Sunrise & the victory of good over evil
🔹 Sib (Apple) – Beauty & health 🍏
🔹 Samano (Sweet pudding) – Strength & power 💪
🔹 Serke (Vinegar) – Patience & aging 🍶
🔹 Senjed (Oleaster fruit) – Love & wisdom ❤️
🔹 Sabzeh (Sprouted greens) – Rebirth & growth 🌱
The table is elegantly decorated with other elements:
🪞A Mirror – To reflect on our past and future (self-awareness )
🕯️ Candles – Light & hope for the new year.
📖 Divan of Hafez – the book of one of our most favorite poets. We read poetry on Nowruz to reflect on life & culture.
🥚 Painted eggs, symbolizing fertility and creation.
🐠 Goldfish bowl, representing life and movement.
🪙Sekkeh (Coin/Money) symbolizes wealth and prosperity.
🌷Fresh spring flowers like hyacinths and tulips represent the spring season.
On Nowruz, after everything is ready, we take time to enjoy some beautiful traditions.
We read poetry from one of our most beloved poets, Hafez, We listen to music, dance, and, of course, visit our elders and family members.
It’s such a heartwarming moment to spend time with our grandma and grandpa, sharing a lovely dinner or lunch together. These moments of connection really make the day special!
✨Nowruz Pirooz! (Happy Nowruz!)✨🌸🌱
