The Sous-Marine followed a different path, shaped by the world of underwater exploration and the ingenuity of the Parmentier crown.

Look closely at the seconds hand and you’ll find a choice, one made by our own community.

The Lollipop: a classic round lumed tip, chosen for clarity and calm confidence.

The DNA Strand: a quirky, split-hand design drawn from Airain’s original 1962 Sous-Marine poster.

Both are faithful to the original 1962 design. Both are 18-karat gold-plated with Light Old Radium Super-LumiNova. Neither is more authentic than the other, they simply tell different chapters of the same dive watch.

In 1962, the original Sous-Marine was born from a bold spirit: an era of recreational scuba diving that demanded instruments as rugged as they were elegant.

Today’s Sous-Marine Re-Edition stays remarkably close to that original, from its distinctive case shape and dial layout to the iconic Parmentier crown locking system.

What you wear isn’t a reinterpretation. It’s a faithful continuation, made for now. 🌊

Some archives are found, not written.

Our Type 21 draws inspiration from a 1960s vintage model discovered at a Sotheby’s auction in 2021: a glossy black dial, ‘Old Radium’ lume, and the historic Airain crown logo.

The Type 21 reflects the French Ministry of Defence’s 1956 update to the original specification, designed for greater durability and easier maintenance in the field.

A different chapter from the Type 20, but the same uncompromising mission.

Airain and Lebois & Co share more than a founding family. Both trace their origins to the Dodane family in 1934.

After relaunching Lebois & Co in 2014, we turned our attention to Airain, then in the hands of a passionate French entrepreneur. Sharing our vision made it possible to acquire Airain and reunite it with Lebois & Co, just as it was in 1934.
