The Tudor Rose 🌹✨️

An old coin, a twisted silver bail, and a little touch of romance.

This pendant was made during my time at school, but in the details I followed my own eye. That is often where a piece begins to feel alive to me — when study meets instinct.

The twisted bail and the twisted ring om the backside echoes the wreath in the coin, and that small choice made the piece feel truly mine.

A small silver relic, carrying history in a softer form.

A small moment to mark a big one ✨

Last week I graduated from smithing school.

This journey was built from many small things: repetition, patience, trial and error, learning to trust my hands, and slowly growing into the craft. What once felt difficult and far away became something familiar, and something I can now truly call my own.

I’m proud, grateful, and excited for what comes next.

As I’m slowly nearing the end of my studies, I find myself looking back at older pieces with new eyes.

These silver spiral earrings were one of those pieces that looked light and effortless in the end… but definitely did not feel that way while making them. They were a real soldering challenge, and I remember fighting with bubbling boraxine more than once. 🤭

Still, pieces like this remind me how much I’ve learned: patience, precision, and trusting the process even when a piece does not come together immediately.

Handmade in silver, with all the little lessons hidden inside.

Behind the heirloom ring ✨️

From melting the gold to sawing, soldering, shaping, and setting — this piece slowly found its form at the bench.

I love these in-between moments most: the quiet middle, where a piece still looks more like intention than jewelry.

The beauty is never only in the final piece.
It lives in the process too.

For the king of our home.

My first ring in gold—an atelier lesson in heat control, gold soldering, and precision filing. The “S” was rebuilt three times until it finally held.

Set with a flat stone and finished by hand, with E + S cut into the sides — our beautiful girls Esther and Sophia.

Made as an heirloom piece, for my husband.

New name, same hands. 🌷🫶

When I started this account, I called it Fractions of Gaia.
It was the perfect name for the girl who had just discovered silver, stones and a more “witchy” side of herself – slowly learning how to saw, solder and shape little pieces of earth into jewelry.

A few years (and many blisters, melted bezels and happy customers and quiet victories) later, I feel I’ve grown out of just a fraction.

I’m still a student – and probably will be for life – but my vision feels bigger and more grounded now.

So from today, this space continues under a new name:

Atelier Gaula

(Gaula is my given name ✨)

It feels like bringing all my parts together – the nature lover, the “witchy” girl, the silver-and-goldsmith-in-training, the woman who dreams of timeless pieces with stones, engraving and meaning.

Fractions of Gaia will always be a chapter of my story.
Atelier Gaula is the whole of me.
If you’ve been here since the beginning: thank you for growing with me.
If you’re new: welcome – my bench is small, my pieces are slow, but they’re made with a lot of heart. 🤍

Logo and all that visual stuff is in progress, right now I just felt the need to make this step.

Marvelous Malachite 🦚 is this not the most gorgeous color green? This stone is a beautiful malachite set in sterling silver. This stone provides protection, alleviates negativity and enhances your physical wellbeing. What a powerhouse to wear on your chest!

With this piece I also achieved a milestone as this is the first ever silverpieve I made with a stonesetting! Happy and proud!

Eye see you 🧿🌸🩵 This was another assignment for school where we had to make seamless borders on a rounded surface, on the edge as well as by the cutout. I found the design a bit dull so I extended it with my trusty old wireweaving! I detailed it with a lovely little rosequartz and some swarovski element beads. What do you think? Note to self: take some classes on how to photograph items with a shiny/mirrorlike surface 😂 it was so difficult to not see myself or my big phone in this piece of jewelry! On to the next one!
