Turabi ترابي

Turabi ترابي Ceramic designs, hand-made with love, 100% food-safe. Her ceramic works are functional, strong and versatile designs that are 100% food safe and lead free.

Turabi is inspired by traditional Palestinian pottery where beauty radiates through natural colours with minimalist yet functional designs. This is combined with a love for Tatreez (traditional Palestinian embroidery) where fragments of embroidery patterns (each with its own story to tell) are carefully picked and hand-carved into the clay.Through Turabi, Inas designs and hand-builds all her piece

s using a variety of earthenware. In order to minimise her impact on the world in which she lives, Inas reuses materials whenever she can and recycles all her unfired clay to create new pieces. Turabi’s collection is made up of a range of mugs, plates and serving bowls in various sizes. The collection also includes unique ceramic jewellery.

Unloading the bisque firing from earlier this week, these cups and plates were fired to 950 degrees Celsius meaning they would be strong but still porous, just enough to absorb the three layers of lead free glazes which I paint by hand in the following step. That normally takes. Few hours. The final step : Fire them again to 1260 degrees Celsius making the final pieces durable, nonporous and kitchen friendly. Can’t wait to glaze, fire and see the final results and to share them with you! 🧿❤️💚🤍🖤🧿

In the meantime, you can find plenty of designs in stock and ready to ship in our online shop. Order them today and receive them at your doorstep in less than one week! ❤️

One of Turabi’s main inspiration is Tatreez embroidery textiles and our deep connection to the land. By carving our heritage into clay, a material that can last hundreds of years, we create at Turabi pieces that are not only decorative and fully functional, but piece that carry th stories of our people and their land, preserving it for generations to come. Each piece is 100% handmade and carved with embroidery motifs from various regions.

Hebron Rose (زهرة الخليل ) is inspired by traditional embroidery from the Hebron (الخليل) region. While city women wore a simple indigo-blue dress with no embroidery, the costumes of village women in Hebron were distinguished with colourful cross stitch, all done with silk thread.

Prior to the 19th century most motifs in Tatreez embroidery were geometric until floral motifs like the rosette motifwe see here were introduced and became popular right away, spreading across Bethlehem, Hebron and Ramallah.

This collection is hand-built using beige and speckled stoneware and coated with three layers of transparent, lead free glaze, making each piece 100% food safe.

We have on this land all of that which makes life worth living
April’s hesitation
The aroma of bread at dawn
A woman’s beseeching of men
The writings of Aeschylus
Love’s beginning
Moss on a stone
Mothers standing on a flute’s thread
And the invader’s fear of memories
We have on this land that which makes life worth living
— Mahmoud Darwish

Introducing the ‘Grapevine Talisman’ serving platter, inspired by traditional embroidery from the Hebron region (الخليل). This piece is handbuilt using beige stoneware and hand-carved with intricate triangular patterns known as “hijab,” which means “talisman” in Arabic and are meant to offer protection.

The talisman pattern is combined here with grapevines paying homage to Hebron’s agricultural heritage, especially its vineyards and grape cultivation. Located south of Jerusalem, Hebron (al Khalil) is known for its hilltops, vast valleys and a vibrant farming community that continues to cultivate the land and care for it despite all difficulties 🍇🍇🍇

This bowl is perfect for serving main meals or can be be used as a fruit bowl, decorating your home while carrying our heritage and the stories of our land and people, passed down from generation to generation.

Available now to pre-order 🍇🍇🍇
