To celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th birthday, I’ve now added a tiny tulip to my Tiny Amsterdam Collection! 🌷

The tulip is an unofficial national flower of the Netherlands and an icon of Dutch culture. Did you know that during the 1600s, the country experienced what’s now called “Tulip Mania” — when tulip bulbs were so highly prized that they were sold for the price of an entire canal house? It was one of the world’s first recorded financial bubbles!

This delicate flower is a blooming tribute to Amsterdam’s rich history, vibrant spirit, and the timeless beauty of its culture.
Whether you’re a local, a visitor, or just someone who loves the charm of Amsterdam, I hope this little piece brings a bit of Dutch joy to your day.

These hoop earrings incorporate elements from the spinning Owl & Night thaumatrope, part of my Sibli Collection. They feature a crescent moon and a star, encircled by a beaded thread symbolizing countless eyes that gaze deeply, beyond the surface, into infinity.

Since ancient times, owls have been viewed as symbols of wisdom, intuition, and femininity, as well as fertility. Examples of this can be found in their associations with the Greek goddess Athena, the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, and the Baltic sorceress Ragana, among others.

Astute and sharp, the owl’s wisdom encompasses not only the ability to bring to light what is hidden in the dark but also the capacity to thrive within that darkness.

‘Sibli,’ meaning ‘to whistle’ in Esperanto and evoking the word ‘sibling’ in English, is a collection I created while pregnant with my second child, Mateo, during the most challenging days of the COVID lockdown. I found inspiration in the birds I watched and listened to from my window. These graceful and adventurous creatures, celebrated in many cultures, symbolize resilience, joy, love, wisdom, and strength.

Through a series of whimsical thaumatropes and charms, I aimed to capture these values and aspirations. I hope that by wearing them and keeping them close, they will accompany and inspire you.
