We often get the question: “Can you make a ring with a stone I bought online?”
Our answer is no — and let me tell you why.
I’ve been a goldsmith for around 20 years. Over those years, I’ve built my knowledge by looking, comparing, learning and working with countless gemstones and diamonds. And we’re still learning every day.
But experience also teaches you how important trust is.
We work with a small, carefully selected group of suppliers. People we have built long-term relationships with and who consistently deliver the quality we expect: beautiful stones, excellent cuts and the right clarity.
With a stone purchased online, we simply don’t know its full story. Even when it comes with a certificate, we cannot always guarantee that the stone in front of us is exactly the stone described on that certificate. Nor can we guarantee the quality of the cut.
And if we create a piece of jewellery, we want to stand behind the entire piece — not just the goldwork around it.
It’s like bringing your own flour to a baker and asking them to bake you a loaf of bread. The ingredients are part of the quality of the final product.
The same goes for lab-grown diamonds. We believe there is absolutely a place for lab-grown alongside natural diamonds. But it’s simply not what we choose to work with.
We choose natural diamonds, sourced through suppliers we know and trust.
Because in the end, we want to know exactly what we are working with and we want to keep delivering the quality we stand for.
That’s not just our policy. It’s part of our craftsmanship.
