Despite being the hardest natural substance, diamonds can chip. Diamonds can be susceptible to chipping when exposed to hard knocks and sharp impacts. They are more susceptible to "cleaving", chipping or breaking where internal inclusions or fractures, particularly those that are surface-reaching are present.
Avoid wearing your jewellery while doing manual labour or activities where you would expect your jewellery to get knocked around e.g. the gym.
Choosing a diamond with a high clarity grade can also reduce the inherent risk of a diamond chipping. You could also think about a setting that protects the edges of your stone like a bezel setting, which covers the most vulnerable part of the stone.
At the end of the day, jewellery is there to be loved and worn so take care of your jewellery, but don't forget to enjoy it!
