🎨 Creativity was flowing at this week's Rangatahi Drop In at New Lynn Memorial Square!

Our rangatahi enjoyed a relaxing afternoon of paint by numbers with Felicia, creating colourful artworks and having fun together.

It was awesome to hear so many positive comments from people passing by, who loved seeing young people being creative in the community, come and join us next week for a new crafting opportunity!

What a way to kick things off on Waiheke!

This week Ger hosted our very first workshop with Waiheke Resources Trust, making beautiful Rimu and Kauri chopping boards and it was such a great class. We were lucky to have gorgeous weather, lots of laughs, and some absolutely stunning boards created throughout the day.

Everyone enjoyed learning new skills while working with these beautiful native timbers, and it was awesome to see each board come out completely unique.

So many beautiful creations coming out of Becs’ Kauri Creations class this Tuesday!

There were lots of ideas flowing throughout the workshop. Some people started out planning house signs, others imagined serving boards or adding inlays, but for many the direction changed once the natural beauty of the kauri started to shine through.

Some pieces were carefully sanded to perfection while others were taken home ready for stencilling and finishing touches. Every project turned out completely unique.

EU Fines Temu €200 Million 🇪🇺

The European Commission has hit Chinese platform Temu with a €200 million fine for allowing the sale of illegal and dangerous products. Among the findings: baby toys posing choking hazards, faulty chargers, and items containing banned components.

The penalty comes under the Digital Services Act (DSA). Temu has until August 28 to submit an action plan — or face fines of up to 6% of its global revenue.

Temu is contesting the decision, calling it “disproportionate.” 👀

🧺 Creativity was in full swing at this week's Upcycled Arts & Crafts After School session at Te Atatu South Community Centre!

With Yalini and Yael, the children made beautiful baskets, learning three-string braiding and even four-string braiding for basket handles.

Others enjoyed creating collages using torn paper and cut-out pictures to make colourful scenes.

A fantastic afternoon of creativity, learning, and upcycling! 💚
