It was a bit windy but very warm trip up to Walkers Hut with some folks all from New Zealand. We managed to dodge the rain. Big smiles all round

Well, that’s it! The day before the day before the last day of Autumn!
It’s Friday, and it’s important that these two Cheeky Kea guests came for a ride today because there won’t another one like it this Autumn!
By next week we’ll be entering an entirely new season at Alpine Jetthrills….. Winter!
Blue skies, white caps on the mountains, it’s a stunning time to come out for a rip in the Waimakariri gorge.

A real mixed bag today, first up a river check in the AirBoat on the Braided Shallows, followed by a Braided Blast with Adam and our guests from Singapore.
Then a trip to Springfield for a rip in the gorge with some Cheeky Kea Guests as the sun went down.

It’s shoulder season here on the Waimakariri, not summer and not winter!
That doesn’t mean we’re not ready for a blast on the river as some of our Cheeky Kea guests found, heading out with Andy during the week.

Our first group of afternoon Cheeky Kea guests capitalised on the opportunity to experience the Waimakariri gorge from the water after seeing it from the train in the morning. It’s a spectacular time of the year.

After a cold and wet start to the week the last two days have been “ Off the charts!” The rain and cold temps left us with a beautiful backdrop of snow and with folks in town for the rugby at the new One NZ stadium we’ve literally had people dropping in out of the blue to come for a ride in the Waimakariri gorge!

Over the past weekend and despite the draw of Supercars racing at Ruapuna(!), Robyn and Paul Mullan presented a cheque for $5,000 to kickstart the Hamilton Hut Restoration Fund being undertaken by JBNZ’s Canterbury Branch.

These funds were raised jointly by Alpine Jet Thrills, and Jet Boat World at our recent annual Show ‘N Shine and accepted by project lead, Grant Allot at their annual AGM.

This original hut, in need of substantial restorative work possibly represents one of the most significant historical landmarks for jet boating in what is arguably the Holy Grail of jet boating.

This was presented at the Canterbury Branch AGM, and came as a huge surprise to many, one that we are extremely grateful for.

We are extremely thankful for this amazing support and for everyone who played a part in making the event such a success. Donations like this make a real difference and help move us another step closer to our goal.

This contribution is going straight into the Hamilton Hut Fund, supporting the rebuild of this very special treasure in the Waimakariri Gorge so it can be enjoyed by future generations.

In the coming weeks we will be sharing more about the Hamilton Hut rebuild and why this project matters so much. For now, we simply want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this fantastic effort. Your support is hugely appreciated.

Topsport off early amidst some dubious weather for a paddle from Walkers Hut.
Our UK friends from Cheeky Kea rugged up warm for a wet blast and then some of the Aussie Supercars TV team sampled a wet snd wild Waimakariri River before winging back across the Tasman.
