Good afternoon all,
On Saturday, 12 April 2025 at an online meeting with RNZRSA all those RSA's participating were asked to vote to adopt a new constitution V118.
This RSA voted NO as we felt that the draft constitution needed further alterations and more consideration.
The outcome of the Vote was:
For the Motion 96 (57%)
Against the Motion 71 (43%)
Abstentions 4
In order to get the vote over the line, RNZRSA in their wisdom changed the rules of their own constitution (Illegally). The threshhold was changed from 75% to 50% and all RSA's would only have 1 (one) vote instead of 2 or 3 depending on member numbers.
Although V118 was adopted, the reasonably close vote means that within the wider R.S.A. membership there is a lot of uncertainty and amibiguity.
So where to from here? - Already some RSA's are considering a legal challenge against RNZRSA and/or the Incorporated Societies for registering an illegal constitution, so this RSA has to decide do we accept things as they are?
Of interest to note is that the top table comprised:-
Sir Buck Shelford - President
Tony Hill - Vice President ex Colonel
Rhys Jones - Chair of Board ex General
Evan Williams - Chief Executive Officer ex General
Not one of them stood for the reciting of the ODE which shows what utter contempt they have for the rest of us.
Since that meeting Napier RSA has withdrawn from RNZRSA and is now known as Clubs Napier.
Is this something we should consider??
Now back to run of the mill stuff!!
Neither the Joker Poker nor the Membership draw were struck last week which allows them both to jackpot by another $20, but having said that the membership draw goes up by $20 on both Thursday and Friday nights whereas the Joker Poker only goes up once per week.
Whichever way, it is always good to win if you happen to be the luck recipient.
Another reminder that the AGM is to be held on Sunday, 25th May at 11am and will be followed by a light luncheon.
Please bring a plate to share. Thank you.
Also, nomination forms for Executive Committee are available at the bar and any Notices of Motion are to be handed to the Office Administrator.
The final total for Poppy Day collections was $6246.10
We would like to again thank everyone concerned whether they be donors or volunteer collectors. Without your help, collections would not be possible.
Finally, we would like to bring to your attention the fact that the kitchen is a cash only business and we would appreciate you bringing cash with you rather than asking for cash on Eftpos at the bar, as this depletes our till of money which is needed.
Please consider going to the ATM at the bank before you come and see us at the RSA.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration.
Have a great week everyone.
Kind regards
Lesley Adams
Office Administrator
