Good afternoon all,

On Saturday, 12 April 2025 at an online meeting with RNZRSA all those RSA's participating were asked to vote to adopt a new constitution V118.

This RSA voted NO as we felt that the draft constitution needed further alterations and more consideration.

The outcome of the Vote was:

For the Motion 96 (57%)
Against the Motion 71 (43%)
Abstentions 4

In order to get the vote over the line, RNZRSA in their wisdom changed the rules of their own constitution (Illegally). The threshhold was changed from 75% to 50% and all RSA's would only have 1 (one) vote instead of 2 or 3 depending on member numbers.

Although V118 was adopted, the reasonably close vote means that within the wider R.S.A. membership there is a lot of uncertainty and amibiguity.
So where to from here? - Already some RSA's are considering a legal challenge against RNZRSA and/or the Incorporated Societies for registering an illegal constitution, so this RSA has to decide do we accept things as they are?

Of interest to note is that the top table comprised:-

Sir Buck Shelford - President
Tony Hill - Vice President ex Colonel
Rhys Jones - Chair of Board ex General
Evan Williams - Chief Executive Officer ex General

Not one of them stood for the reciting of the ODE which shows what utter contempt they have for the rest of us.
Since that meeting Napier RSA has withdrawn from RNZRSA and is now known as Clubs Napier.

Is this something we should consider??

Now back to run of the mill stuff!!
Neither the Joker Poker nor the Membership draw were struck last week which allows them both to jackpot by another $20, but having said that the membership draw goes up by $20 on both Thursday and Friday nights whereas the Joker Poker only goes up once per week.
Whichever way, it is always good to win if you happen to be the luck recipient.

Another reminder that the AGM is to be held on Sunday, 25th May at 11am and will be followed by a light luncheon.
Please bring a plate to share. Thank you.
Also, nomination forms for Executive Committee are available at the bar and any Notices of Motion are to be handed to the Office Administrator.

The final total for Poppy Day collections was $6246.10
We would like to again thank everyone concerned whether they be donors or volunteer collectors. Without your help, collections would not be possible.

Finally, we would like to bring to your attention the fact that the kitchen is a cash only business and we would appreciate you bringing cash with you rather than asking for cash on Eftpos at the bar, as this depletes our till of money which is needed.
Please consider going to the ATM at the bank before you come and see us at the RSA.
Thanking you in advance for your consideration.

Have a great week everyone.

Kind regards
Lesley Adams
Office Administrator

Good afternoon,
It's lovely to see the sun at long last. Make the most of it as we believe the forecast is for more rain very soon.

This weeks news is very slim pickings I am afraid to say.

Once again, the Membership draw was not struck and similarly the Joker Poker was not struck either.
The Joker Poker jackpot is now $200 and the Membership draw jackpot will be $180.
You can't win if you're not here!! Also, members only for the Joker Poker.

The AGM of the Northern Wairoa Memorial RSA Inc. is to be held on Sunday, 25th May at 11am.
Any Notice of Motion is to be given to the Office Administrator.
Nomination forms for the Executive Committee are available at the bar during opening hours.

The AGM will be followed by a light luncheon.
It would be appreciated if you would bring a plate to share. Thank you.

There are a few members who have not yet collected their membership cards, so please remember to come in and see us to get them.

Have a good week

Good afternoon all,

Goodness!! This is the last day of March. How the time flies!!

Winter is looming up fast and you will have already noticed the darker mornings and the nights closing in earlier than usual, however the cooler mornings and beautiful days make up for some of the negatives of the impending winter.

We are delighted to announce that the Membership draw was won on Friday night and won it's owner $500. Congratulations to that lucky person. It was certainly worthwhile claiming it.

Another big congratulations to the winner of the Joker Poker who managed to locate the Joker amongst the cards. This lucky punter walked away with $400. Well done.

Good afternoon,

There was a little bit of 'r' (rain) last week and we have to be thankful for what we have had, especially as it is summer!!
We are in the last week of summer if you hadn't realised and the mornings have that 'autumnal' feeling.

The membership draws last week were both unclaimed. If you are not here and your number comes out you cannot claim the prize, so you know what to do to win it. Hopefully we will see you soon!

Joker Poker has not yet been struck either, so this too is increasing each week. Please remember that this is open to members only.

The menu for the kitchen this week is:

Roast beef or pork, with kumara, pumpkin, potato, vegetables and gravy. $25
Fish and chips with salad. $22
Burgers (egg, fish or plain) and chips. $15

Please remember if you would like to imbibe a little more than usual that we provide a courtesy van for your safety. A donation is all we expect in return - much cheaper than a DIC.

Have a good week and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Good afternoon all,
It has been a bit quiet around here with not a lot happening, which makes it difficult to share news when there is so little!!

For those of you who have not paid your subscription, please do so. Membership is from the 1st January to 31st December.

KITCHEN:
The meals on offer this week are as follows:-

Silverside, mash, mixed veges and a chees sauce. $22

From time to time there are niggles (for any manner of reason) about the meals being served.
If you have something to say, please see Gloria and she will aim to sort this with you.
There is no point complaining if Gloria isn't told!!

Joker Poker raffle has not been struck yet this year, so keep trying for the big one!!
Remember though, that only financial members are eligible to play.

Membership Draw has not been struck either, so this is increasing each week too!!

Good afternoon from the Pool Section

Something I found and thought I would share for a little light relief:

TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR SENIORS:

1. Talk to yourself. There are times when you need expert advice.
2. "In style" are the clothes that still fit.
3. You don't need anger management. - You need people to stop irritating you.
4. Your people skills are just fine. It's your tolerance for idiots that needs work.
5. The biggest lie you tell yourself is "I don't need to write that down. I'll remember it."
6. "On Time" is when you get there.
7. You've noticed people your age are much older than you.
8. Ageing has slowed you down, but it hasn't shut you up.
9. You still haven't learned to act your age and I hope you never will.
10. "One for the road" means peeing before you leave the house.

Some of you may have already seen this. If so, I hope you enjoy it again.

If you wish to contribute anything to our news items, please do not hesitate to contact us by email and we will gladly share your news.

Have a great week

Good afternoon,

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to Charlie for organising the Navy reunion with visitors hailing from Ruatoria and Hastings and New Plymouth just to name a few.

The whole weekend was a success and it was delightful to see how everybody mingled, enjoying the company of old friends and new.

Next, we would like to sing the praises of Gloria and David for a delicious, plentiful Christmas luncheon held on Sunday.

We are certain no-one went home hungry.

Also, thank you to Marion for the crafty Christmas crackers that adorned the tables which were well received and provided a few laughs.

Finally, thank you to Moses for the entertainment and we look forward to seeing you here on Friday the 6th December to entertain again at the RSA.

Membership Draws for Thursday and Friday were not struck, so will increase by $20 each night again this week.

Joker Poker also was not struck and is now up to $440 for the lucky punter who draws the Joker.
Please remember that this is only open to Club members.

Friday, 13 December is a true Black Friday and we will be celebrating by asking you to wear Black on the day. Nothing too spectacular!!

Have a great week.
