Beadwork can have a textile quality.
This new design is studded with metallic glass teardrops, engineered in such a way that the effect is like the nap on silk velvet… one of my favourite fabrics! The teardrop studs move smoothly to change direction when stroked. Such a tactile feature!

I’m tempted to make a range of colours… what do you think?

Some of you have asked for earrings that sit directly on the lobe… so I’ve been working on a few designs…

AI did a great job of positioning the Celtic Cross design on an artificial model, but got the Garnet Tassel earrings ever so slightly wrong. They appear a bit larger than actual size and also a bit superimposed.

Never mind, you get the idea?

Rhodonite can be so diverse in appearance. Here’s just a couple of possibilities. I fell in love with this stone for the first time when I worked with these two beauties. This local, Central Otago stone is carved by an artisan here in Dunedin. The matte finish accentuates the stones soft tones, and contrasts well with the metallic beading.

I’d forgive you if you thought these might be Easter inspired. It’s just the timing. I’ve actually been dreaming up the triple drop baroque ‘Faberge Egg’ (with artistic license) earrings since February, when my friend suggested the design.

And ✨YES✨ they certainly are lush Dayle! 🙌🏼

Ok, here’s the controversial bit, AI has given me the model. She is not a real person. These will definitely look better on Dayle!
