Polishing sapphire's instead of facet cutting is a new trend and it allows the stones natural shape and beauty to be enhanced as each one will be unique and one of a kind. The process of polishing can take anywhere between 8 -12 hours, sometimes longer. They can then be mounted as either pendants or rings.

We've named this sapphire Ocean Blue. It is a gorgeous blue on all angles with the addition of a yellow cross table on one end that shines through in certain light angles. It is just waiting for someone to have it set. You will find it in our website store under CR5 - custom rings. Happy to send more photos to anyone interested.

Where do you find Sapphires?
This is probably the most asked question of anyone trying this for the first time.
The answer is: Where you find them !
Many have spent days or weeks digging and getting nothing and then on their last day they scoop up the left overs in their diggings and bingo !!!
One of the older stories shared with us from the mid 1900's was a gentleman who came to town with everything he owned in a wheelbarrow to try his luck. He asked the other miners where should I dig? They said 'over there' - pointing to an area where no one had had any luck. It turned out to be the richest piece of Sapphire ground on the fields.
Several years later he left town again .... with everything he owned in a wheelbarrow.
(He liked the ladies and he liked to drink!).
