Tomorrow’s total lunar eclipse will be the last in our skies until 2029.
A total lunar eclipse is also known as the blood moon because of its red glow. This colour comes from sunlight bending through Earth’s atmosphere which is the same effect that creates red sunsets.
A lunar eclipse happens when Earth moves between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon. This rare alignment can only happen when the moon is full.
The eclipse falls in the zodiac sign of Virgo - highlighting themes of order, reflection, and refinement. With the Sun in Pisces, this opposition is all about balancing intuition with practicality.
In New Zealand the eclipse will fall just after midnight in the early hours of March 4th
