What if ocean-inspired jewellery actually had a real connection to the ocean?
At Arapawa Blue Pearls, we believe you should know where your jewellery comes from, how it was made, and who made it.
Our pāua are hatched and grown on our family-run pāua pearl farm on Arapaoa Island. From growing the pāua to growing the pearl, the journey takes at least eight years.
Once the pearls are ready, they are carefully harvested right here on the island. The pearling process then begins, with each pearl handled individually before being sorted and graded by hand.
From there, each pearl is passed on to our local jeweller, who crafts every piece individually.
The result? No two pieces are ever the same. Every pearl has its own shape, character and natural colours, giving every piece of Arapawa jewellery its own story and identity.
But they all share one thing: a real connection to the ocean.
And that connection goes even deeper. Every piece of Arapawa jewellery also supports our pāua reseeding project. Each year, we hatch and grow hundreds of thousands of pāua on our farm before releasing them along New Zealand’s coastline to help rebuild wild pāua populations.
From our farm to the finished piece, you can know the story behind what you wear.
And every piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity tracing the origin and story of your pearl.
