Our tamaiti have been enjoying harvesting in the māra kai, carefully selecting fresh greens and gathering eggs to hand over to Nikki to cook for lunch! 🌱🥚

There is so much joy and pride in seeing food go straight from our garden into our kitchen. Through hands-on experiences like these, children develop kaitiakitanga (guardianship), a deep connection to nature, and an appreciation for sustainable living and where our food comes from. 🍃.

When Taawhirimaatea brings us wind, we celebrate with bubbles. This was a fun opportunity for our tamariki to run, jump, balance, reach and stretch their tinana. Bubbles also encourage hand-eye coordination, through tracking them as they float through the sky.

This week we farewell Kate as our Team Leader in our Kakepuku (infants) room make sure you say goodbye her last day is this Friday!
Kate has created exceptional relationships with our families and the Mountaineers team and is going to be missed by us all.
All is not lost she would like to continue as a relieving teacher so you will still see her at Mountaineeers yay!
Jess will be transitioning in as the new Team Leader of Kakepuku and we will be welcoming a new Team Leader of Pirongia room in the near future.
Thanks for your dedication and hard work Kate we hope to see you in a few months!

We are all feeling so grateful this wonderful lady, teacher and former owner and creator of Mountaineers has come back to relieve as a qualified teacher for us starting this week with our team and tamariki!

🌋 "There's lava under the ground!" 🌋

When a child shares an idea like this, it’s not just a passing thought—it’s an invitation to take that idea for a walk.

Today, we celebrated pure curiosity: asking big questions, sharing wild ideas, taking turns in conversation, and working together to understand this complex planet we share.

As teachers, our job is to notice, recognise, and respond to the interests of our tamariki. By providing our precious taonga with open invitations to engage, explore, and wonder in their own time and space, we give them the room to become the drivers of their own learning.

Who knows where today's spark of wonder will lead us tomorrow? 🌿✨

Kia ora koutou katoa!

Today we were lucky enough to join in on some fun in the sun.

The Pirongia Community Association put on a Teddy Bears Picnic at the Rangimarie Reserve today in celebration of National Teddy Bears Day!

We brought along a special furry friend to enjoy a picnic packed with love ❤️

There was face painting, a play on the park and even a human sized Teddy bear!

Thank you for putting on this special event for the tamariki of our village! 🐻

A morning filled with lots of love, laughter and special moments with our amazing dads, grandads and whānau. We enjoyed yummy bacon & egg buns, fresh coffee and plenty of happy faces! 🥓🍳☕️
