Advanced Skin Technologies: The Science Behind Laser Skin Treatments || Friday 30 October || 1730 - 1900 || Mountain Club Beach Street

Join Mountain Club member Lucy from Parlour Skin & Laser for a relaxed evening exploring the world of advanced laser technology and celebrating the arrival of the clinic’s newest laser.

From skin rejuvenation and collagen stimulation to pigmentation, texture and beyond, discover how modern laser technology works, what it can achieve and why it’s becoming an increasingly popular approach to skin health. Lucy will share insights into the science behind laser treatments, introduce Parlour’s latest technology and answer those skin questions you’ve always wanted to ask.

Whether you’re already familiar with laser treatments or simply curious about what’s possible, this is an opportunity to learn something new over drinks, nibbles and good conversation. This event is open to non Mountain Club members as well.

Brad Rowe recently pulled us aside to share some feedback on the value he’s been finding in Mountain Club.

Just last week, he decided at the last minute to come along to our weekly wellness session at WATERSHED SAUNAS . He turned up not knowing who was booked on, and ended up connecting with an old friend while sitting and getting to know the others. That then turned into everyone heading back to Beach Street to carry on the conversation.

Brad is one of our longest-standing members, and it means a lot to hear first hand how Mountain Club continues to strengthen his relationships and connect him with the wider community.

In our latest Mountain Club Podcast episode, Paddy Kluts sits down with Christina Grant, founder of Perriam, who has just walked away from 10 years in Wanaka to go all in on Tarras and the merino shop her mum ran for more than 30 years.

Christina grew up on Bendigo Station, where her father co-founded the New Zealand Merino Company, and spent her afternoons in her mum’s shop. From there it was a creative awakening at fashion school in Wellington, the Italian wool mills and London, before coming home to care for her mum in her final months. She explains why Perriam designs nothing too trend-driven, and why she couldn’t bring herself to manufacture offshore even though it would be cheaper. She also talks about how an ADHD diagnosis at 47 changed how she sees the hyperfocus and burnout of her 20s and 30s, and why she now calls it her superpower, crediting it with much of what she’s built.

Thank you Christina for sharing so openly, and for coming back after our Future of Fashion panel. This is a warm, reflective listen on merino, motherhood, and coming home.

A big thank you to Alex Tong, Founder of Wolf Coffee Roasters, Liv King, Founder of Liv King, and Pete Fullerton-Smith, director of AquaWatch for sharing their business journeys at our Entrepreneur Coffee Jam with Startup Queenstown Lakes, moderated by Billy Waller.

A little recap from each speaker:

Alex - Wolf has grown from roasting 100 kilos a week to 1.7 tonnes, and from one wholesale account to more than 40. He puts it down to the pack mentality: treating staff, customers and the local community like family. That approach is carried through to his upcoming new roastery, cafe and training space in Queenstown, which will be the model for its expansion into China.

Liv king - Liv moved from prosthetics for film and TV into luxury wedding makeup, and 90% of her clients now come from overseas, often booking one to two years ahead. She puts her growth down to collaboration over competition, building referral relationships with planners and photographers and local make up artists. That approach now shapes how she runs the business, with extensive pre day booklets for every stage and ensuring her pricing covers the admin, and extra touchpoints behind each booking.

Peter Fullerton-Smith - Aquawatch started as a New Zealand farming family’s answer to a degrading river and now has a team of 20 building real-time water quality sensors. Pete puts its progress down to finding where the product is a painkiller rather than a vitamin. It was nice to have in New Zealand, but it’s essential in the UK, where legislation requires water utilities to monitor their discharge points. That focus is now taking Aquawatch into the UK, with a factory being set up there and a major contract close to signing.

The Entrepreneur Coffee Jam is a fantastic collaboration with Startup Queenstown Lakes, and our next one is on 3 December. We look forward to hearing from more founders then.

The past fortnight at Mountain Club.

It started with Walk and Talk, a coffee and a loop from Five Mile with our Co-Owner and Head of Membership Paddy Kluts, and our monthly AI Meet-Up, an open conversation on what’s emerging in AI and what’s actually working.

Our Final Ski Tour of 2026 closed out the ski season with a picnic and spring vibes. Back at Beach Street, w**emaker Yannick Fourbet poured his organic Central Otago w**es from Domaine Rewa - P Fourbet and brought along his ceramics as The French Potter. Run and Recover followed with a social 7km run from Five Mile with Alexander McCall, then sneak peak at the new Hyperbaric Chamber and post run recovery Sauna session at O-Studio Queenstown.

Coffee Jam returned with Startup Queenstown Lakes, an early start for founders and creatives hearing three quickfire talks from Wolf Coffee Roasters, Liv King and AquaWatch. Our Tourism Roundtable then brought operators together to talk about where high-end travel in the region is heading. Jessie Healy ran a small-group Lunch & Learn at Five Mile on choosing ad channels and knowing when ad spend is actually working. That evening, three startups pitched their value propositions, growth potential and financial projections to a room of investors and entrepreneurs at Mainland Angels Pitch Night.

Alongside it all, REFORM QUEENSTOWN and the WATERSHED SAUNAS kept their weekly rhythm, and we look forward to getting into the biking season.

Tasting Session with Mora Wines || Thursday 22 October || 1730 - 1900 || Mountain Club Beach Street

Mora is a name we know and love, a Lake Hayes favourite for long lunches and a glass in the sun at Mora Wines & Artisan Kitchen. This time the team is bringing their w**es to us. They’re made from 90 hectares of established vineyards in Bannockburn and Pisa by the Skeggs family, who have more than 25 years of growing and making w**e in Central Otago.

The name comes from the Latin for “to linger or take pause,” which fits a Thursday evening at Beach Street pretty well. Cellar Door Manager Vicki Robinson will lead the tasting, taking you on a journey through both Central Otago and Mora w**es.

Complimentary for members, guests welcome with a $20 donation to the MC community fund.

Lunch & Learn: Go-to-Market E-Commerce || Wednesday, 14 October | 1230-1330 | Mountain Club Five Mile

Jessie Healy doubled Mons Royale’s direct-to-consumer revenue as their Head of eCommerce Growth, and now runs Ecomm Rockets, buying Meta and Google ads for brands like Wonky Box, Videris Lingerie and Tony’s Chocolonely.

At this Lunch & Learn she’ll share how she picks the right ad channels for a brand, tells when ad spend is actually working, and decides whether to run ads yourself or bring in help, the same system she builds for physical product brands from newly launched through to high eight figures.

Small group, limited to 12. Bring a project and your laptop.
