From a few sketches to a very happy YES! 💍❤️

This beautiful bespoke engagement ring was a true collaboration between our customers and Nick, bringing their ideas together with his design experience to create something uniquely theirs. Using gold and diamonds passed down from a family member, they worked together to create a completely new ring while keeping that special family connection. From sharing ideas and exploring Nick's sketches to refining the design and seeing the finished ring come to life, it's been wonderful being part of the journey. And seeing these gorgeous engagement photos makes it even more special!

Is your jewellery insured for what it would cost to replace TODAY?

That ring, bracelet or necklace you bought 5-10 years ago may have cost considerably less than it would cost to replace now. The price of gold, gemstones and jewellery manufacturing has changed, which means the current replacement value of your jewellery can be very different from the price you originally paid.
And this is where an up-to-date valuation becomes important. Many contents insurance policies have limits on how much they will pay for an individual jewellery item unless that item has been separately specified on the policy. An item that once comfortably sat within your general contents cover may now have a replacement value high enough that it needs to be individually listed with your insurer. Without an up-to-date valuation, you may not discover that gap until something is lost, stolen or damaged.

A valuation helps you know:
- What your jewellery would realistically cost to replace now
- Whether your current insurance cover is still adequate
- Whether particular pieces should be separately specified on your policy

If it’s been a few years since your jewellery was valued - particularly your higher-value pieces - it may be time to have another look. Bring your jewellery instore for us to advise whether an up-to-date jewellery valuation is required.

Old stones, new story. These beautiful tanzanites and diamonds were already loved they just needed a new home. We reused them to create this gorgeous rose gold ring, giving the stones a completely new look while keeping what was already special.
One of our favourite things about custom jewellery is creating something new from pieces you already own. 💙✨

It’s been a pretty upsetting few weeks for our local jewellery community. Just a few weeks ago Rotorua Michael Hill was targeted, and this morning Pascoes just down the road from us on Tutanekai Street, was also robbed.

As fellow jewellers, these incidents hit very close to home, and we absolutely condemn this kind of behaviour. This is not the Rotorua we know. It’s always disappointing to see our towns name attached to headlines like these, because Rotorua is so much more than the actions of a very small number of people.

We see a different Rotorua every day.
We see the customers who walk through our doors and have supported us year after year. We see people stopping for a chat, recommending local businesses, celebrating engagements, anniversaries, birthdays and milestones with us.
We see business owners supporting each other and a community that genuinely cares. We are incredibly grateful for the people who support The Refinery and other locally based businesses in our town.

Our thoughts are with the teams at Michael Hill and Pascoes. Nobody should have to deal with this simply because they turned up to work.

We love being part of Rotorua, and a few ugly headlines will never define the community we know. ❤️
