Ammonites and Belemnites Field Trip

We had a great field trip on Sunday - 24 members made the trek to Hauturu to search for Ammonites and Belemnites. 🪨 Some impressive finds and great scenes from the day are pictured below. ☀️

For the coming two weeks, we will be closed on Monday and instead open Tuesday through to Saturday.
After this, things will return to our usual hours.
Normal shop hours.

🪨✨ We’re Back in Our Original Club Shop! ✨🪨

Great news, rock hounds! ⛏️💎 The earthquake strengthening work has been completed and we are back in our original shop at the Tauranga Historic Village 🏛️

A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers 🙌🧡 who have worked hard to get everything set up and looking great. The shop is ready to go, and we can’t wait for you to come down and have a browse 👀🪨

There are still a couple of things to be finished in due course, including the museum and fluorescent display 🔦✨, but for now, we’re thrilled to welcome you back into our refreshed space 💛

Come say hi, have a fossick, and enjoy being back among the rocks! 🪨⛏️💎

On November 2nd eighteen brave members made the one and a half hour walk up the wires track to fossick for apache tears. Was a great day out in the sun!

A group of 21 members travelled down to Whanganui for a weekend trip in seach for fossils. This was the first time the club had fossicked in this area. On Sunday morning John Patterson gave a talk about Gemstone Beach. Many thanks to Zane and Bruce for sharing their local knowledge and guiding us over the weekend.

Hi everyone! 😊 Just a little update — our Rock and Mineral Club Shop has temporarily moved to a new spot in the Historic Village, right next to Ichiban (the Japanese street food place). This is while structural work is being done on our usual building.

We’re still open and offering the same great service and crystal treasures as always, so don’t be shy — pop in and say hi next time you’re in the village! 🪨

A big thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped with the move and setup. We truly appreciate every one of you — shop volunteers, committee members, and club members — your support keeps this club ticking along. And thank you as well to everyone who visits the shop. We love sharing our hobby with you! ❤️
