Today my cup is overflowing. 🤍

I’ve just finished the most incredible mentoring session with the remarkable Adrienne Whitewood, and honestly, I don't think there are enough words to express my gratitude.

Adrienne, you are one of the most inspiring wāhine I have ever had the privilege to meet and hold space with. Your passion, generosity, kindness, and unwavering support are something truly special. You have a beautiful way of seeing possibility where others see obstacles, and today you reignited something in me that has been waiting quietly for a long time.

You filled my cup, challenged my thinking, encouraged my dreams, and gave me the confidence, clarity, and energy to finally stop sitting on the sidelines and go for it.

This new venture has felt exciting and terrifying all at once, but after our kōrero today, I feel ready to back myself and take the next step.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koe, Adrienne. Thank you for sharing your wisdom, your time, and your heart.

Today I was welcomed generously, encouraged wholeheartedly, and reminded of the power of wāhine uplifting wāhine.

1461 days ago at 8.30pm, my world changed forever.
1461 sunsets.
1461 sunrises.
1461 days without you, Dad… my best friend.

People say time heals, but grief doesn’t heal — it simply learns how to live beside you. Some days the ache is quiet, and other days it crashes into me so hard it steals the air from my lungs. I miss so much about you. Your laugh. Your strength. The way you’d call me “love.” I still replay our voice messages over and over because I’m terrified one day I’ll forget the sound of your voice.

The cruel thing about love is that when it’s real, when it’s soul deep, the absence of it hurts beyond words. I loved you with every part of me, and now your absence echoes through every corner of my life.

So much has changed since you left us. The children — your greatest love — are growing into such beautiful humans. You would be so proud of them. I see pieces of you in all of them… your humour, your stubbornness, your kindness, your spark. Sometimes they laugh or smile in a certain way and for a fleeting second it feels like you’re still here beside us.

I carry you in everything I do. In the stories I tell. In the way I love my children. In the quiet moments when I look at the sky searching for you in the sunset. You may no longer walk beside me physically, but your fingerprints are still all over my life.

Grief is lonely. It’s painful. It hurts the soul.
But loving you was one of the greatest privileges of my life… and even after 1461 days, I would choose that love again and again, no matter the pain that came with losing you.

I miss you every single day, Dad.

Today, I’m thinking of every kind of mum. 🌸

The mums holding their babies close.
The mums longing for a baby.
The mums carrying grief quietly behind their smiles.
The solo mums, the step-mums, the foster mums, the bonus mums, the fur baby mums.
The mums exhausted, overwhelmed, healing, surviving, and still showing up every single day.

Motherhood is not one story.
It is love, sacrifice, heartbreak, strength, softness, chaos, and unconditional devotion wrapped into one.

And today, I hope every woman who nurtures, protects, guides, loves, and gives pieces of herself to others knows how deeply seen and appreciated she truly is.

To those celebrating with full hearts and to those surviving today with aching ones — I’m holding space for you all. 🤍
