Annealing is the process of heating the gold to a cherry red and cooling in a controlled manner, this softens the metal and allows us to bend and shape without the metal cracking.

We may need to repeat this process up-to 20 times while making a ring from scratch.

Unfortunately our customer needed to have her rings removed in a hurry, the hospital did their best and clearly speed of removal was their priority.

Luckily we handled the repair job. The engagement ring and diamond wedding bands were pretty straight forward.

The domed ring however had a harder time, cut through the thickest section, we used a combination of tactics to repair this one. We utilised both traditional gold solder which flows through the join as well as our laser welder to weld gold wire over the join to make it invisible.
