You may have heard that Toi Pōneke Arts Centre is relocating...and so are we!

The Arts Centre on Abel Smith St has been our home for the last 20 years, and we are excited to join them on this next chapter in a new location.

We will be operating from 3 Market Lane from Saturday 20th June 2026. Come and join us for our Open Studio & Gallery day to celebrate our new space and help make it feel like home! 🏡

Meet the Maker: Fran Carter 🍭

Fran Carter ( ) is a Wellington - based jeweller known for her fierce contemporary designs and unique use of materials.

Her signature pieces are crafted in reconstituted plastic she makes herself using recycled gelato teaspoons, creating stunningly delicious colourways.

The process Fran uses to make this colourful material is labour intensive and creates completely unique pieces every time, repurposing an every day throwaway object into a beautiful, wearable artwork.

Whether you love a splash of colour or the whole damn rainbow, Fran's work always inspires joy. We have a lovely selection of her pieces here at the gallery for you to check out online or in person.

Yet another whimsical carved creature from - this time featuring a one of a kind doe handcarved from cherry wood 🦌

Vaune begins her carving process with many sketch studies and which then progress into carving the wood, which is then polished with oils and finished with beeswax. Each carving is completely one-off and takes a huge amount of hand-work.
