A little bit about Ellie.
“My name is Ellie Toogood. I’m originally from England, and I now have moved over to New Zealand and now work at the Partridge Jewellery Boutique in downtown Auckland.”
Tell us a little bit about your background.
“A little bit about my background is I started off in fashion and textiles. It was then when I was able to intern for Lorraine Schwartz. I spent several years working in the insurance industry for a software company, to then move to New Zealand and come back into my passion, which is diamonds and gemstones.”
What drew you to diamonds and gemstones?
“What drew me to gemstones and diamonds was when I was a little girl, I used to collect semi-precious stones and fossils. So I used to go out with my parents and look for fossils. That then transpired into an internship with Lorraine Schwartz, where I was able to see some magnificent, sizable stones, which just awakened my passion for fine jewellery.”
What drew you to working at Partridge?
“What drew me to working at Partridge is that it’s a family-run business, and especially that it’s a New Zealand fine jewellery brand as well.”
What has been a personal highlight in terms of campaigns, launches and events?
“A personal highlight for me has been working at the Claudia Li fashion show and dressing the beautiful models with our spectacular fine jewellery. Seeing them walk down the runway was absolutely amazing.”
What is one aspect of Partridge jewellery people might be surprised to learn about?
“What people would be surprised at, which goes behind crafting our beautiful jewellery, is the design element with understanding the ratios, the technical drawings and sketches, to the colour analysis to understand what colours work well together, and jewellery and crafting to last
