Here, Adrian, our master setter, carefully secured an east-west green sapphire into our Celeste ring, one of our most loved designs. Contemporary, understated, with a quiet edge. Beautifully crafted in yellow gold at our Wellington workshop, this ring is ready for someone special to enjoy and wear everyday.

What to do with a curious stone, blue in colour, irregular in shape, yet smooth and rounded in finish? Why, it could only be the centrepiece of a splash of water from a tiny gold jug, of course! And so, that’s exactly what we did 💧

Lovingly handcrafted by Jack, our master jeweller, our Aquamarine Jug Pendant proves that our madness is our magic. Picture perfect proposal in Positano 💙
When Antonio began dreaming up an engagement ring for Rebekah, he came to The Village Goldsmith with a beautiful vision in mind: a timeless three-stone design centred around a rich, deep blue sapphire, complemented by two lovely diamonds.

From there, our senior designer Meg helped bring the details together. Working closely with our workshop team, she sourced the perfect blue sapphire and refined each element of the design, from the shape of the claws to the delicate detailing along the side of the setting. The final design was then brought to life by the skilled hands of our master jewellers.

Then came the moment it had all been created for. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Positano on the Amalfi Coast, Antonio asked Rebekah to marry him. And, most importantly, she said yes! 💙

Antonio, thank you for trusting us to create such a meaningful piece and for allowing us to play a small part in this very special chapter of your love story.

Lady Luck 🐞♥️

Borne into existence by the inspiration sparked from a wonderful cabochon ruby, Lady Luck is exactly what she was always destined to be. Once you see her you’ll forever be touched by her simple elegance matched equally by her depth of creativity. Forming a perfect ladybird shape, the 2.05ct ruby cabochon emanates a deep red hue, set in yellow gold and adorned with two perfectly placed fine diamonds that form the loveliest sparkly eyes.

A Ladybird messenger is thought to arrive to let you know that a loved one is wrapping their love around you and keeping you safe. A more wonderful meaning you couldn’t wish for from this lovely and delightful little piece of wearable art ♥️

A huge congratulations to our wonderful clients, Emma and George, who recently got engaged.

Their engagement ring story is an example of the wonderful meaning and legacy that jewellery can hold. Emma and George wanted to create an engagement ring that felt truly personal by using some existing rings they owned.

They had two special family rings that were no longer worn. Rather than starting again with new diamonds, the couple decided to honour family legacy and ensure circularity by approaching us to see if we could use these existing rings to create something new. Our designer, Meg, worked closely with the couple to come up with a five stone design featuring five of the diamonds from their rings. And, in a further nod to the sentimentality and sustainability of the ring, the gold from the antique ring was melted down for use in the new ring.

The end result is a ring that the couple can’t help but smile at when they look at it. A ring full of meaning and legacy, a ring to represent love and connection on many different levels ♥️ In Emma’s words “I am absolutely in love with the ring (and him, ofc haha!)” 😉

We celebrate our craft through creative expression and none is more visible than the way we dress our windows. We love to see the joy on the faces of those who stop to explore. From the gappy smiles of the little people to the love filled cuddles that couples share to the finger pointing, wide eyed moments of discoveries that we are so fortunate to witness, everyday.

Our latest adventure is one that we would love to share with you. A little behind the scenes to show what goes into the creativity beyond the designers and beyond the jewellers work benches. We have a genuinely exceptional team of diversely talented people who conjure little expressions of magic that come together to tell our stories through our windows.

It all started with a pendant 🎈 A tiny hot air balloon, a tiny tap, a tiny little man. It evolved into a world of curiosities, unconventional characters, little oddities, unexpected twists and a little dog on an adventure. It came to life with the wild imaginations of a few, the assistance of technology and the highly skilled hands of our talented artists. A delightful journey to take, a delightful visual feast for all that pass by. Come on in and lose yourself in the detail of this, our whimsical world 🐌🐙🐇

The re-creation of a lost heirloom ♥️

When Cherie’s dear friend lost a beloved heirloom pendant she had worn for many years, it was more than the loss of a piece of jewellery. The original heart shaped pendant had belonged to her grandmother and had been passed down for her to treasure. Understanding how much the pendant meant to her friend, Cherie commissioned us to recreate it as a surprise. Carefully crafted in yellow gold, the intricate pendant features three garnets and a white sapphire, capturing the spirit and charming details of the original pendant.

It is pieces like these that proves the power of jewellery and the memories and the stories that it can carry for people, throughout generations. Thanks to the love and generosity of a wonderful friend, this pendant now continues to honour a grandmother’s legacy and ensures a family story will continue to be carried for many years to come ♥️

Sometimes, we stumble across precious gems that are so different and magical that they immediately spark a curious idea💡The Mondrain (and no, it’s not a typo) pendant is one such example of this. The Watermelon Tourmaline with its distinct, unusual, yet perfectly formed, offset vein sent us on a wonderful and curious journey to imagine up a piece that only the brave (or perhaps slightly crazy), would dare to tackle. Surely a diamond that can sway, dripping from a tiny platinum tap, attached to a golden balloon, with a basket holding a man and a ladder hanging below, at a grand total scale of 35mm high is doable? Brave indeed. Perhaps delusional. And yet, do it we did.

The result, this one of a kind, precision detailed treasure and piece of wearable art. Featuring a 3.62ct watermelon tourmaline, a pear cut diamond, yellow gold, rose gold and platinum. Imagined into life by our Creative Director, Ian Douglas, and expertly handcrafted by our team of master jewellers. This is one of those curiously delightful pieces that you only see rarely, a piece that reveals itself detail by detail the closer you look. A treasure, an heirloom, a gift to be relished. In the words of W***y Wonka - “A little nonsense now and then, is relished by the wisest men.
