Today’s preaching in church reminded of this article I wrote in November yet never got to publish. It’s Time. Every article has its perfect timing and today is the best time for this.
As I was walking to work, I saw one of those electronic ads on those huge screens, it said : “WHO ARE YOU?” I love playing with words, so with a little bit of word play in my head with those 3 words, these statements were very striking to me:
“WHO ARE YOU?
ARE YOU WHO YOU ARE?
YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE!”
Breaking it down, the 1st line is a question to ask ones self:
WHO ARE YOU? Is what you see in the mirror the true reflection of yourself? Are you happy of how you see yourself? Of how you have become? How well do you know yourself? Do you like what you do? Does it reflect the person you like to be?
The 2nd line is a challenge.
ARE YOU WHO YOU ARE? Is what others see in you, the same person you want them to see? Is what others perceive about you the same as what you see in yourself? Are you comfortable of how others perceive you? Are you actually who you show others to be? Do others love you for what they see from you? Are you happy with yourself?
The 3rd line is a confirmation.
“YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE” is the confirmation of both the first and 2nd question. Are you being authentic, are you being transparent? Do most people who know you see thru you? Do you love who you are and how you are? Are people close to you read thru your facial expressions, in between your lines and body language? Do people love you for how, what and who you are? Do people accept you for your real self?
All these are as important to ask oneself and to also ponder on self love. It is vital to love who you are, embrace who you are and a be happy of who are you. Authenticity is important to your happiness.
