Episode 5: Kathy and Kathy Bespoke and the Future of the Craft

In culmination of our episodes on “In The Hands of an Artist”, we look into the future of the craft and the realities that goes into preserving this heritage craftsmanship. It is a daunting realization that this kind of dedicated skill may no longer be around in the near future. It is upon us to support the industry to encourage a new generation of goldsmiths to continue with this dying art form. Not just for us, but for all the other brands that still choose to produce local jewelry.

Some things that are truly valuable cannot be measured by just monetary gains. This kind of craftsmanship can only survive with an understanding of value in heritage, tradition, and an artisan that still chooses to create despite the odds.❤️

Our cameos are hand carved in Torre del Greco Italy from the prized queen’s helmet shell, while the filigree danglers are handmade by our local goldsmiths.

Your sculptural forms in multiple layers, textures on surfaces that interact with light, and recurring motifs of succulents and flowing fabric explores themes of growth, transformation, and human connection.
A challenging but rewarding process that allowed our goldsmiths to further explore the possibilities of their craft. This collection symbolizes a collective experience that has shaped an artist’s work over time. The beauty of resilience, change, and the quiet process of becoming.

About the Artist:
Abby is a visual artist based in Metro Manila. Her works have been exhibited in several art shows and galleries over the years. She has annual exhibits at ManilaArt Fair and has recently done a solo show with Secret Fresh Gallery.

This collection was especially meaningful to us. A heartfelt thank you to visual artist Abby Añover for collaborating with K&K and creating the beautiful artworks that inspired this exclusive collection. It has been a privilege to transform your art into jewelry.

To our incredible K&K team, our secretary Malou, our booth designer Christine Villarama-Locsin for a beautiful set-up, and especially our master goldsmiths, thank you for your patience, craftsmanship, and countless hours of hard work (and overtime!) to bring every piece to life. Your hands, talent, and dedication are the true heart of our brand.
