A noteworthy commemorative release for modern Philippine collectors.
For the 125th Anniversary of the Supreme Court of the Philippines, three official pieces were issued: the ₱3,000 commemorative banknote, the ₱125 Nordic-gold coin, and PHLPost’s commemorative stamps with first day cover.
The ₱3,000 note is easily the centerpiece. It features Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano, the first Chief Justice of the Philippines, and is especially interesting as BSP’s first commemorative banknote in vertical format. The design brings together several references to the Court’s history, including Lady Justice, the Supreme Court Session Hall, and the institution’s long line of Chief Justices.
The ₱125 coin continues the same theme, with Lady Justice on the obverse and the official 125th Anniversary emblem on the reverse. The use of Nordic gold gives it a distinct modern commemorative look, while the 15 stars represent the Justices of the Court.
PHLPost’s stamps complete the issue by highlighting Arellano and key Supreme Court buildings, including the Old Building along Taft Avenue, the New Building, and the Baguio Building.
