Nawa

T'Boli brass bangles with a cause. Made with love from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, Philippines. � In Tboli culture, Nawa is a word that can mean several things.

Nawa began as a passion project between two long-time friends, Jopie Sanchez and Fatima Potenciano. What started as their mutual love for tribal jewelry and a passion for Filipino craftsmanship eventually gave birth to a social enterprise that brings recognition of the Tboli weavers and brass makers’ eye for intricate detail to a larger audience. To speak of one’s “Nawa” is to speak of their chara

cter, and emotions. Nawa can also mean “breath,” and it seemed fitting to pay tribute to the Tboli culture by breathing new life into their craft. In Tagalog, Nawa is a word that means “Amen,” or “Let it be.”

Nawa also believes in giving back to the people that inspired the brand. With each purchase of Nawa bangles, a percentage of the profits go to the Lake Sebu School of Living Tradition, a non-profit organization that aims to preserve the traditional way of living among the Tboli people.
