5 Steps used in making a glamorous ring at Ravia Jewels.
Step 1 | Choosing and Measuring Wire The first step that our craftsmen take while making a ring is to choose a perfect wire suitable for different designs. The most popular being the half-round wire or the ground wire. Afterward, the wire is measured according to the ring size. To do this, the wire is placed on a scale and marked a little longer than the size for filling. Flush cutters are used to cut the wire.
Step 2 | Shaping Wire Our craftsmen take steel ring mandrel and start to wrap a piece of wire around it to get a perfect band shape. Once the wire is rounded, the ends will be hard to push down. This is where the mallet comes into play. It won’t damage the metal because it’s soft, but it’s hard enough to manipulate the metal. Hammer down each end to complete the circle.
Step 3 | Molding Frame As the silver band is now ready, the next step is to make a square frame with prongs. Craftsmen take a silver cube and molds it through soldering by using jewelry torch and the machine is used to sharpen its edges.
Step 4 | Setting Prong and Placing Stone After the frame is ready, small molted silver prongs are attached with the silver frame using a jewelry torch to give heat to the prongs and plier is used to sharpening its edges. The silver band which is made above is attached beneath the silver frame using jewelry torch. After making a perfect frame, Gem is placed inside prongs and is closed to hold on the stone.
