Friends, today we’d like to take a look at the ring samples students will work on during the professional stone-setting course🔥
The curriculum is structured around working progressively with various designs and setting methods. Instruction is provided by three different teachers, allowing students to explore multiple approaches and learn how to adapt their techniques to specific pieces and tasks💍
In total, the program features
8 sample pieces, each dedicated to a specific technical challenge:
• A single row of stones with bright-cut setting
The primary focus is on precise layout, preparation of the stone seats, uniformity of the metal between the stones, and the quality of the bright-cut finish.
• "Wave" ring featuring a single row of stones with bright-cut setting
The complexity of this piece lies in the shape of the stone row itself. Working with the curve requires precise control over the positioning of each stone and maintaining a consistent setting rhythm along the entire line.
• U-set ring
Here, students work with micropavé and U-set design
• Fishtail-style ring
This project focuses on fishtail geometry and the precision of the cutouts between the stones.
• Rings with multi-row stone settings (parallel and staggered arrangements)
Working with multiple rows demands a different level of control. It is essential to maintain consistent spacing between rows and ensure the entire composition remains uniform around the circumference of the ring.
• Ring with a bezel-set center stone
This project combines two distinct tasks. The student works on a U-set row while separately mastering the bezel setting for the center stone.
• Ring with a prong-set center stone
The final project combines a fishtail setting with a prong-set center stone. Here, it is crucial to manage multiple design elements simultaneously and achieve a precise transition between the different setting styles 💎
