Oh Formex, thank you! Even if this edition felt smaller compared to previous years, it managed to deliver an inspiring environment for creators, wholesalers and retailers.
The designer in me was thrilled by the warm atmosphere, the stunning stands and the fascinating products that shaped the scene.
Three trends were highlighted for this season: Awakening, Maximalism and Escapism. Yet what struck me the most was something we usually only see perfected by giants like Disney: immersive experiences.
Take the wallpaper corridor, for example: rolls displayed one after another, three meters laid out on the floor and rising about the same height on the wall. It took me seven minutes to walk through them all! Each pattern sparked a new emotion.
Some exhibitors mastered this too. From black high-walled labyrinths to recreated gardens and pergolas, they invited visitors into playful and imaginative spaces. Smart, surprising and fun!
And last but not least, I attended Jan Rundgren’s seminar. My Ruffles collection jumped with joy seeing ruffles back on trend. His presentation was packed with new perspectives and reflections on how our times influence today’s designs.
I left Formex filled with optimism and renewed inspiration to create. As Anna Wintour once said: “When times are tough, being positive is the best revenge.”
