Bookmarks, handmade in silver and brass.
I love making jewelry but making practical things that one can use in everyday life is also a lot of fun. These can be made in different sizes and I’ve made them in silver, copper and brass.

Yesterday a friend invited me for lunch. It’s a new friendship and I wanted to bring a thank you gift. I know she reads books and so I made a bookmark in brass.

A handmade hammered silver bracelet.

A late birthday gift to my youngest nephew. During Christmas vacation he said that he now knew what he wished for, a hammered open silver bracelet. Tonight he came to pick it up and he liked it, beyond expectations he said. So now I’ve made jewelry for both my nephews and my nice. You couldn’t have made me happier, I am so grateful and honoured you all wanted me to make you something❤️✨🙏🏽.

Jewelry.
A perfect object to be used to show who you are. In November I made a brooch embedded with who I am, specially made for a unique occasion.

I am born in Bolivia, raised in Sweden and almost exactly one month ago I participated in an exhibition in Stockholm, a writing exhibition with texts written by about 50 adoptees. 30 of them were read by two actors. My text touched upon themes about identity, belonging, loss and how I keep Bolivia close.

I wanted to make something special to wear for this event. A piece of jewelry symbolising personal identity. I begun by making two silver rings and in between I added a piece of cloth from a traditional fabric which I had bought in Bolivia a few years ago. I soldered a pin to one of the rings and made it into a brooch. Materials embedding a part of my identity and heritage as well as craftsmanship. Something to be proud of.

Thank you everyone who came to the exhibition and thank you everyone who bought some of my handmade jewelry this year, for your wishes to make something unique and for your trust in me as a maker.

Happy New Year
Feliz Año Nuevo

A re-make of a ring bought in the gift shop at the Museum of Etnography during the exhibition ¡Viva México! A ring with a beautiful picture of a sugar skull. The ring shank was made of cheap metal and a simple not so appealing design. The idea was to replace it, to make a ring shank in silver instead to enhance the cabochon with the sugar skull. So I took it apart to make it more beautiful to wear.

The setting is made of fine 999 sterling silver. Handmade to fit exactly around the cabochon. As the picture of the sugar skull is in paper it was the first time I made a totally closed setting. Then I decided to make a more complex design for the ring shank, one that wound keep the cabochon in place on the finger better. The new ring shank in silver made a perfect match to the beautiful sugar skull cabochon✨💜.

A new week.

When I was young I lived in Angola for three years. Africa will always have a special place in my heart. I’ve wanted to make a silver silhouette pendant of Africa for some time and finally I made it. It’s hand sawn from a silver plate.
The jewelry I have from Angola isn’t much but I have some beautiful pieces that a friend gave me not so long ago when she was living in Rwanda. After three years in Angola my family moved to Mexico. I do believe that the years abroad made me curious of people, culture and languages something I’ve carried with me all my life. Mexico also have a special place in my my heart. This is where I fell in love with silver and especially silver rings. I adorned myself with silverrings on each finger just as I do today.

I got a request to make a customers necklace shorter because it was too long. A necklace with connection to Africa. I love the stories jewelry tell and information customers share with me. The jewelry becomes so much more than just a necklace. The details in silver talks about craftsmanship and after polishing they became even more beautiful.

Thank you Roswitha for asking me to help you making this necklace in a length that feels comfortable more comfortable and suits you better. It looked lovey on you today when you came to pick it up and tried it on at the workshop in Södermalm.
Happy you liked it and thanks for a very nice talk🥰.

A handmade silver ring. Handsawed lines which have been coloured black. I wear it together with my thin ring to add even more contrast.

Two days ago I decided I wanted to try something new, to make a plane ring a bit more interesting, to give it some more structure and subtle meaning. A shiny plane four-edged ring can be beautiful but I find it more interesting and more challenging to create contrasts by also making the different sides of the ring have different structures. Then it becomes more alive. It can tell a story. A story of vulnerability, sensitivity, strength, courage and at the same time, beauty, playfulness, curiosity and making something new. Stories can be embedded in art but how it’s read by the viewer one never knows, but that’s what’s makes it so interesting✨.

A new day, new experiences and new stories to tell in the future.

Beads.

A new favourite to work with. Here made as earrings in different colours and patterns. But I’ve used them in combination with wood, silver and textile as brooches, necklaces as well. I use them to enhance other material, cover och adorn. I love all the colours ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜.
I will continue to experiment with them✨.

So happy to finally be able to spend a whole day in the workshop🥳
