A limited run of 30 pieces, made in steel for the Japanese market, this is the Moritz Grossmann Tefnut 36 Silver Friction.

Silver friction is a traditional hand-finishing method used to create a distinctive dial surface. The process involved mixing a silver-based powder with salt and a small amount of water to form a paste, which is then carefully brushed onto a coarsely prepared dial. This process is done entirely by hand.

A watch that perfectly captures the spirit of early Parmigiani Fleurier — deeply traditional, highly artisanal, and created long before independent watchmaking entered the mainstream spotlight.

Introduced during the formative years of the manufacture, the Toric Tourbillon was Michel Parmigiani’s first interpretation of the tourbillon complication, drawing heavily from his background in restoration and classical horology.

The signature knurled bezel, inspired by ancient architectural motifs, remains one of the defining design elements of the Toric collection. Combined with elegant teardrop lugs and an open-worked dial, the watch strikes a balance between refinement and technical expression that feels uniquely Parmigiani.

Powering the watch is the manually wound calibre PF280 — a beautifully executed movement featuring traditional hand finishing, finely shaped bridges, polished bevels, and an overall aesthetic reminiscent of high-grade vintage pocket watch calibres.

An understated piece of haute horlogerie from one of watchmaking’s true independents from the Neo-vintage era.

Corum Réserve de Marche – Openworked Platinum

A rare piece from an era where Corum experimented with genuinely creative watchmaking. This Réserve de Marche comes in a beautifully compact 34mm platinum case, featuring a sharply executed coin-edged polished bezel, integrated crown guards, and a screw-down crown — details rarely seen together on a dress-oriented complication piece.

The highlight is unquestionably the dial: a fully openworked and hand-finished movement display, exposing the layered mechanics beneath while retaining excellent symmetry and legibility. The architecture gives the watch an almost pocket-watch-inspired feel, with visible wheels, bridges and power reserve indications blending into a highly mechanical aesthetic.

Despite the elegant sizing, the platinum construction gives the watch reassuring heft on the wrist, while the intricate hand-finished open work dial makes the watch stand out from other Reserve De Marche variants.

This little Lange 1 ref 181.038 carries the unmistakable Lange DNA: an off-center dial, outsized date, and beautifully balanced layout that has become one of watchmaking’s most recognizable designs. It stands out however, with a stunning grey guilloche dial that shimmers under light.

The Tonneau is one of the Maison’s earliest and most distinctive case designs, first introduced in 1906.

Over the decades, Cartier has revisited the model through various interpretations. This 2435B was launched in the 90s, pre-CPCP, and wears very elegantly due to the slim, curved profile of the case. Despite being only 8mm thick, with a 26x42mm (including lugs) case, the heft of the platinum case gives it an incredible balance when worn on the wrist.

While Cartier has seen a big uptick in interest in recent years, the Tonneau remains an overlooked model representing good value for the discerning collector looking to add one of the Maison’s earliest designs to their assembly.

Vacheron Constantin introduced the Evasion World Time ref. 48250 exclusively for the Japanese market in the early 2000s. This reference was produced only in precious metals, limited to just 200 pieces per metal.

Presented here in rose gold, the watch features a refined, thin case distinguished by its signature teardrop lugs. A modern interpretation of the vintage worldtimers, the 24 hour dial is clearly divided into day and night sections, combined with a rotating bezel displaying 24 world cities.
