// Awe & Wonder //

Make time for awe and wonder. Have we forgotten how we started? The thrill of trying something new, the bright eyes of a little child, the joy and exhilaration of exploring and playing. We forgot what playing feels like because we are busy adulting.

I thought about the times when old places became new again, seeing through new eyes by just changing around the furniture. Revisiting old visions and relistened to recordings if I missed anything out. I listened to quite a few from 2017 and 2018.

While creating, the pinwheel vintage earring caught my eye and reminds me of the starry-eyed days. This is the last piece as I made the other earring into another cuff a couple of years ago. The beautiful mother of pearl with gradients looks like waves washing up on a sandy beach, accompanied by freshwater baby pearls, Swarovski crystals and a myriad of glass beads in different tones of blue.

This is one elegant piece that I love and the only piece. So get it while it's still available.

// Playground //

Breaking out from my usual mode of creating, here is a playful colour combo.

My inspiration from this cuff stems from the joy of the Lord and the concept of playing. I wonder what does God think about our playfulness? Is God playful?

I sometimes wonder if Christians tend to be a little too serious. Are we all trying to be such good Christians that we have forgotten to enjoy God, to delight in his creation, and to have fun with each other?

With the subject of play in my mind, I thought of the joys of soon becoming an aunt. I looked at how children played in the playground, the way they would drive a toy train around the track in complete focus and absolute delight. The joys of a toddler! Children are born with a natural desire to explore their environments through play.

Why did God create a world that would routinely delight people with fantastic sunsets, beautiful sunrises, and stunning scenery? Why did he make giraffe’s necks so long? What is the purpose of a peacock’s plume if not beauty? Why did he create such a magnificent variety of lovely butterflies? Why did God give people a sense of humor? And what’s with the platypus or the warthog?

I can only conclude that God wants us to enjoy his creation, to play in it, to laugh. What additional evidence do you see from creation that God is playful?

// Enid Blyton Fairy Tale //

In this little story, the frog prince clinging onto a little daisy and a baby porcupine sniffing flowers buried under autumn gold leaves and windswept blue bells. There are also many gold plated vintage elements reused into this piece of storytelling, see if you can spot them.

The aluminum chain interwoven with tendrils, is adjustable long and short.

This statement necklace is another special piece not to be missed.

// Rooster Bowl //

Like the yuanyang pin, this rooster bowl was given to me by . The shell vintage brooch was given to me by the owner of many years ago, when I still consigned with them at Haji Lane. Has it been 8 or 9 years too?

Finally, I have finally put them to good use. They are a perfect match in this statement necklace. In Chinese when we talk about rice bowl or "饭碗" it usually refers to money. In ancient China, shells were also used as the oldest form of currency.

One of a kind, the hypoallergenic aluminum chains are made in Japan, and they are adjustable too. All our necklaces can be worn long and short.

The last few necklace really has that autumn theme. Loving the "goji berries" colour on this necklace too.

// Vintage Memorial Pins //

This piece houses the Chinese version of lovebirds called yuan yang. The other pin is a rooster bowl which I will share in the next post. Thanks for passing me these pins. I have finally put them to good use.

I hardly make a brass theme, and here is a first. And I think it goes so well with the autumn colour theme in this. This piece is reimagined from old earrings repolished (the 3 petal flowers) and dismantled an unworn necklace. It is also adorned with akoya baby seed pearls, mother of pearl shell and a rainbow hue labordorite. I just noticed the rainbow shine while writing this post, so gorgeous 😍.

// GLOW UP //

I held on to this brooch for a long time, at least 7 years, because I just didn't know how to work with the colours. It was hidden in a box, unseen and seemingly unwanted.

However, I knew how unique the stained glass workmanship on this brooch is. It is not an ordinary brooch and is simply stunning. I knew somehow the "stars will align" and something beautiful will come out of this, and now it did.

Maybe you are feeling forgotten for a long time. Maybe you are in a season of hiddeness, but when the Kairos moment comes, come out from the old wineskin. Don't be afraid to shine.

Pearls, gradient agate, mother of pearl shell and light colour stones just make this brooch shine. We use tarnish resistant brass from USA and hypoallergenic aluminum chains from Japan.

// Beholding Beauty: Dunamis //

I just had to post this piece even though it is just sold. This piece was created last year, but due to some circumstances, I have kept it for private inspiration. Today, a customer looked through my collection and enquired about it. She bought Frida Kahlo off the online website but also noticed Dunamis is posted on IG and not in the online shop. She is so blessed, this piece is still available.

This customer teaches me how to have the courage and initiative to ask, sometimes yield unexpected results - in this case for her, yes Beholding Beauty: Dunamis is still available. Which is actually quite unexpected.

Indeed, God knows who each and every piece of jewelry I make belongs to. What are the chances of her asking about a piece I kept as a private collection? And as an artist, I'm just so so thankful that she loves my work so much 😭

Thank u every single one of you who love my work. Thank u T for loving Dunamis! Everyone of your support does mean a lot to me. To know that someone out there appreciates the love, time and effort that goes into each piece just motivates me to want to create more.

// Life Giver //

I have been thinking a lot about healing recently. And while making the statement necklaces, a common theme of leaves keeps recurring. Which brings me to this verse in Revelation 22:2

"Right down the middle of the street. The Tree of Life was planted on each side of the River, producing twelve kinds of fruit, a ripe fruit each month. The leaves of the Tree are for healing the nations."

I also kept a distressed vintage cathedral scarf pin for many years now. The scarf pin still have so much life in it. The green leaves are from another bracelet dismantled and cleaned. And half a dangling diamante earring. Using a generous amount of freshwater pearls, jade, shell, labordorite stone and mother of pearl, the old and new combined, created this enchanting silver statement necklace.

We hardly make any silver themed necklaces. So if you like this piece reserve this piece before it is gone.

// Pink Bubbly //

It's been a while since I create a cuff. Here is one after so long.

May the joy of the Lord be your strength. This pink bubbly cuff wires a rare vintage buttons, bamboo beads, whitewashed painted wood baubles and upcycled cat eye like beads dismantled from my mum's old necklace.

The shiny cat eye effect gives this piece that bubbly fun appearance while the unique dancing wiring creates a free spirited piece of work.

Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Sparked from this verse, sweet drinks reminds me of bundang (rose syrup drink). Maybe that's how it came about for me...

// You Give Clarity //

I have been exploring neutrals recently as well and frosted beads and rose gold chains really caught my eye. They make this piece stand out.

When I made this, I was pondering what to name her when the clear glass crystals reminds me of our Creator God. Sometimes in our darkness hours knowing that the Creator of heaven and earth gives us peace and clarity.

// Set Free //
Purple and gold have always been a colour associated with royalty. This purple we have here is more on the lilac shade, accompanied with fresh water pearls, Czech glass crystals, Japanese seed beads and 14k gold chains.

As you have guessed Set Free as seen from the "broken chains" is inspired by the song "Amazing Grace". I pray that you will experience the true freedom from emotional and mental turmoil.

I remember as a young adult, I used to struggle with my emotions, in a typical day, my emotions were like a roller coaster🎢 that was no fun. I then realised how much fear I had in me about what others think and say of me, what I think about myself and etc. I gradually realised, I only need to know what My Heavenly Father thinks of me, and that is I am His precious daughter in whom He is well pleased.

As I get rightly what He thinks of me, I start to think rightly of myself, and subsequently my fear of man gradually fell away.

This is my little side story to "Set Free". You can be free too!

// Clean Hands & Pure Heart II //

This is a verse that keeps me grounded. To constantly remind myself that whatever I do, to keep my hands clean and my heart pure. I interpret this verse as someone who has integrity and is authentic. This is how I interpret my life and how I want to live.

When I make jewelry, I like naming them with interpretations of my own walk with God and how I choose to live my life. Being true to yourself and being as real as possible and authentic to the people around me.

In this case naming this ring I created from crystal, bamboo, wood and howlite stone, "Clean hands and Pure heart", serves as a constant companion to walk our lives authentically and be real with yourself and the people around you. You will shine!

This ring is adjustable and fits all sizes.
