Orient Star has launched the Sakigake Design Project under its Joy of Discovery brand statement, established to mark the brand's 75th anniversary. Sakigake, which means "forerunner" in Japanese, reflects the project's spirit of innovation and exploration of new aesthetics.

Featuring a curved case silhouette taken inspiration from the Wakyu (Japanese bow) and in keeping with the design theme, both the bracelet and buckle have been newly developed.

The distinctive metal bracelet features rounded centre links and H-links that connect seamlessly to create a soft, three-dimensional form with a refined sense of solidity.

The case, measuring 38.7 mm in diameter and 11.8 mm in thickness for a comfortable fit, features a uniquely designed set of lugs that connect to the metal bracelet.

Orient have just launched a whole bunch of new watches in their popular Mako range of
divers.

I think the most fun is the new Purple colourway, the RA-AA0827V, which has all the features
watch collectors love about the Orient Mako and ofcourse a great low price to match the high
specs.

I’ve come to visit one of the Orient authorised dealers in Singapore’s Chinatown in the very
popular watch shopping mall, People’s Park Complex.

Known for its second hand luxury watch dealers, People’s Park also has the long
established Twinkle, Jennifer the owner, has been running this busy watch store for 35
years!

Twinkle carry the usual big Japanese watch brands but I’m interested in this good value
purple diver from Orient. With Seiko launching their own range of purple dials soon, will any
of them be able to compete with the price and quality of this new watch from their industry
cousin, Orient?
