👏 Last weekend, sustainability came to life at Kampung Kampus, Ground-Up Initiative’s unique community campus in Yishun.

Presented by the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore as part of this year’s Swiss Weeks, and co-organised by SwissCham Singapore, Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) 聚友爱, and Haring Timber Technology, the event brought together more than 60 participants for a hands-on morning of learning, making, planting, and community exchange.

The event was graced by Mr Edgar Doerig, Chargé d’affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore, and opened with remarks by Mr Bingyu Cai, President of GUI, and Mr Laurent Corpataux, Co-Chair of SwissCham’s Climate Tech Committee.

Throughout the morning, participants experienced sustainability in action across the Kampung Kampus grounds, from tree planting, composting, gardening, woodworking, and fence building, to a guided tour of GUI’s many sustainability features. The journey also included the +Pavilion, a circular timber structure recently relocated to GUI by Swiss and Singapore partners, and now part of the campus’s wider ecosystem of adaptive reuse, hands-on learning, and sustainable placemaking.

The visit offered an important reminder: sustainability does not always need to start with large, complex, or costly interventions. Many of the initiatives at GUI demonstrate how sustainability can be approached in a practical and cost-effective way through design thinking, resourcefulness, innovation, and collaboration among like-minded stakeholders.

From the circular use of materials to community-based placemaking and low-tech environmental solutions, Kampung Kampus shows how businesses can rethink sustainability as something tangible, scalable, and deeply connected to people and place.

The morning concluded with a communal lunch, bringing together Singaporean and Swiss flavours, with a mix of local produce from GUI’s farm and traditional Swiss food provided by Huber’s.

A warm thank you to the co-partners involved in this event, and to all participants.

Last week, our Young Professionals Community, together with St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG), had the pleasure of hosting the Partners Apéro & Impact of AI at Work, marking the launch of our new partnership between SGI-HSG and the SwissCham Young Professionals Committee.

💯 This first-of-its-kind partnership creates a meaningful bridge between academic thought leadership and our emerging professional community. We are truly grateful for this collaboration.

💡The highlight of the evening featured Prof. Jan Marco Leimeister, who shared evidence-based insights into AI’s impact on the professional landscape. By analyzing structured processes within established corporations, they demonstrated how an AI-first approach redefines employees roles while transforming corporate data into assets.

Following the discussion, guests enjoyed an apéro and delicious sushi while connecting in a relaxed setting. A great moment to exchange ideas and strengthen our growing community.

🙏 A warm thank you to St.Gallen Institute of Management in Asia (SGI-HSG) for this partnership.
