Trivia on dial lume. Do you know why are they always in green or blue? It's the wavelength in light, measured in nano meter. Green light falls between 520 to 560 and blue lower, between 450 to 495. Our human eyes are most sensitive to green light, especially in low light when the colour appears brighter and sharper than others so it's more legible in darkness where dive watches are life saving tools.

APxSwatch. Some said pocket watches are irrelevant in 2026.

At Passions, we love them and so do our friends. They're uncommon in the market and yes they did make the Royal Oak pocket watches in the past too. Here's some of our AP pocket watches and a few from their museum.

Some of the military watches and clocks in our private collection. We have many other military wristwatches not shown here but here's some to share with you today.

1. WWI. A Paul Buhre wrist Chronograph in 14KPG with enamel dial dated 1915, given by officers of the Imperial Russian Air Service to Major Paul Geogievich, engraved on the case back and signed with the names of the officers on the case band, this is one of the earliest documented pilot watch.

2. WW2. Imperial Japanese Naval Chronometer clock by Seiko that would've been used on a warship or submarine. It is so accurate that we're using it as our master clock today after over 80 years!

3. WW2. A Breitling-Wittnauer aircraft clock with Chronograph for USAF warplane.

4. WW2. Lip Type 14, French Air Force (Armee de l'Air for warplane.

5. WW2. Universal Geneve, bombtimer worn by aviators aboard a bomber for Italian Air Force, sold by A. Cairelli of Rome and this is the watch that influenced the modern Graham chrono fighter with that oversized lever pusher.

6. WW2. US Army Air force navigational clock with the shock-proof carrying case.

The rest of the descriptions are on the accompanying images.

We're one of the very few watch companies in the world with a permanent display of military watches and clocks and you're welcome to view them at our gallery in Singapore.

It's a Slow Monday but we're doing some housekeeping & cleaning so it's time to wind up some of the military Aircraft clocks and watches that we've collected over the years. Here are watches from WWI-II and clocks representing the Imperial Russian Air Service, USAF, US, Royal Navy, Armee de l'Air, Regia Aeronautica Italiana, Luftwaffe, Imperial Japanese Navy and Army.

Watch lubrication oil. The left bottle with red liquid is made by Bergeon and costs S$60 while the more common bottle in light yellow liquid on the right is by Novostar, only S$5 & both are Swiss made. Now u know why some companies charge different prices when it comes to servicing your watch. There's also the ammonia and alkaline solution that washes the watch parts and they have vast difference in prices.

We select the best available lubricants and solution in the industry because like car engines, they go the extra miles and watch movements are far more delicate.

We have a small shop so cannot display everything. Here's 3 generations of vintage Explorer 1 from our private collection that's not on display. Which era is your favourite?
